My Review of Staten Island Nissan:
Staten Island Nissan is a scam! Beware! We went in there on May 31, 2009 and wanted to purchase the 2004 Nissan Altima on their lot. They were asking $9,900 for the car, and we negotiated the price down to $8,400 plus agreed to their $600 documentation/preperation fee (or junk fees as they should be called). We made a $500 deposit and agreed to come back on Wed June 3rd, to pick the car up, and pay the balance in cash.
During the test drive, I commented to the salesperson, Arony, that the A/C needed to be fixed, and that the car needed wheel alignment. We agreed to buy the car AS IS, and fix these things ourselves.
They were supposed to inspect the car and prepare it for a pick up. We handed them the insurance card for the vehicle on Monday June 1st, so they could proceed with the registration. We came in on Wed to pick up the car, and are told by the salesperson that he "took care of" the A/C and wheel alignment for free and we should give him a tip for that. I said fine.
We paid the agreed balance in cash, and after waiting for another 20 minutes were asked to sit down in finance mgr office. He asked us if we wanted the extended warranty for $3,000, and we declined. So, then he tells us that the A/C and alignment were just fixed on this car, and we need to pay them an additional $850. I refused since I never authorized them to make any repairs that I'd be paying for. He calls over the guy he introduced as the general manager, and this clown told me that "somebody's got to pay for it!". Wow! Like his argument will make me want to pay them $850 more... Especially when I could get these both items fixed elsewhere for less than $400.
Long story short, we took our money back, and will never go back to Staten Island Nissan (or Staten Island Honda since both are owned by the same people). Don't let them take you for a ride!!!
