My Review of Stephens Oldsmobile-Honda:
Don't bother with these guys. If you live in Bloomington and want a Honda, plan to just make the trip to Indy or Terre Haute.
Of the 5 or 6 dealers I've worked with while trying to work out a deal on the car I want, Stephens was BY FAR the worst. Their initial quote was the sticker price and they refused to negotiate. I began requesting quotes from other dealers in the Indianapolis area, all of whom immediately came down from MSRP and were fairly friendly (some more than others). Stephens continued to refuse to negotiate, at best offering to match some of the quotes I had gotten.
Further attempts at negotiation resulted in my salesperson and the "manager" pulling the most astoundingly stereotypical "good cop/bad cop" routine on me, with the manager telling me I was being unreasonable for wanting to haggle, and saying he didn't want to "waste [his] time on [my] little games". By "little games", he meant comparison shopping and using competing quotes to leverage better offers.
I ultimately ended up walking out, without any protest from the salesperson whatsoever. They were very clear that they didn't care about my sale and were perfectly happy if I went somewhere else, so I did.
As far as service goes, I only have experience with Stephens Hyundai (same company, same location). In every instance, I was met with reluctance by them to do any warranty work, and in every instance, they were very aggressive about performing questionable or completely unnecessary additional work which was not covered by the warranty.
Bottom line: These guys are impossible to work with. They have no sense of customer service. They're the only game in town when it comes to Honda, and they know it. Avoid at all costs.
