My Review of Steve Jory Subaru:
Great place to practice your negotiating and anger management skills, bad place for buying a car.
My salesman was very nice however if you have to deal with their management, Bill Griffen in particular, then you are going to wish you never went. He tried every slick trick in the book.
The bait & switch: I wanted a gray car, I was told they found one, I get there and the sticker is for a black one. He claims it's to be used for pricing, only an example. When asked to provide the true sticker of the car I want he demanded a commitment, i.e. deposit. As if my time away from work wasn't enough commitment just to provide the proper window sticker copy!? After demanding three times it was finally provided.
Low balling: Bill then proceeded to waste more of my time by test driving and valuing my trade-in $3000 less than blue book and $2500 less than other Subaru dealers in the state. When asked to re-evaluate he suggested we sell privately.
Blatant lying: I was told the car I wanted was at a dealership in AZ. I asked three times if this was true since I had searched Subaru's inventory online and knew there were zero in the state. By the end of the dealings, 3 hours later, they admitted the car was out of state.
