My Review of The Autobarn Volkswagen of Mt. Prospect:
This is a follow-up to my previous comments, which I wrote in the middle of a very frustrating time with this dealership. We finally spoke to the service manager, Bill Dolan, and things took a completely different turn after that! Not only did the service reps and technicians do a splendid and thorough job after that, they also refunded the charge to fix something that broke while they had the car for service. We are willing to stick with them now and not change our regular dealer as they usually do a good job and the reps are nice. We were losing faith because of the string of 4-5 things that happened in succession and having to take the car back again and again, but we are happy now. Bill did get our loyalty back with the excellent customer service he provided and he was very nice to interact with. I would recommend talking to him if your issues get severe.

My Review of The Autobarn Volkswagen of Mt. Prospect:
After having gone to this dealership regulary for the last 5 year, I am finally forced to write this review and recommend NOT going to them for service. Their service professionals are nice but I think their technicians are just not competent. Also, their rates are pretty expensive and that would be okay if the quality of work made it worth it, but one can get better service for much cheaper are regular places like Midas! But the sad part is that the way these cars are made today, there are too many things that can be only done by dealers and that seems to be a way to make money off of consumers.

Twice it has happened that I take the car for one thing, they fix it but mess up something else! They forget to attach pipes and hoses and don't even drive the car after any work to ensure it operates correctly. I will be going the 5th time, that's right FIFTH time, to get something they broke, fixed right and there's no guarantee that they will get it this time! I'm completely fed up and feel stuck with them until they fix this but am definitely not going back for service here. And just like another person wrote here, they did not put my lug nuts back either...that was a long time ago.
I wasn't even offered any compensation for all the hassle, time and money even though they agree they messed up... I had to ask for it.

My Review of The Autobarn Volkswagen of Mt. Prospect:
I purchased a 2009 VW rabbit last month at the Autobarn of Mount Prospect and was very pleased with the outcome. I felt that the trade in price for my Volvo was very fair, in addition to the purchase price of my rabbit. It was for sure the lowest price compared to other dealers that I visited.

Cliff was my sales person whom I felt very comfortable with. Prior to my visit we had several conversations on the phone discussing the details of what I was looking for. Raffi, the manager was very accommodating and went to get the car for me from another lot.

I have a very hectic work schedule and do not have time to be sitting at a dealership. The bulk of the work and negotiation was already done prior my arrival. There were no surprises and I actually felt comfortable going in by myself. (as we know usually females are advised to go in with a male)

Overall, great experience and look forward to an ongoing relationship. Oh, also love the expresso machine and fruit basket! It comes in handy when I take a quick work break to get my car washed.

I would most defiantly recommend this dealership!

My Review of The Autobarn Volkswagen of Mt. Prospect:
I recently purchased my New 2009 Jetta through Autobarn, I love it! It's affordable, comfortable, drives wonderful & great on gas! Cliff Nelson was my salesman & he was very professional, extremely knowledgeable and willing to reasonably negotiate. He made my car buying experience a lot less stressful. I would definitely recommend Cliff and a VW Jetta to all my friends & family!

My Review of The Autobarn Volkswagen of Mt. Prospect:
My sales experience was very efficient and everything was taken care of as expected. Cliff is very accessable and has been able to answer any questions for me. All in all, I had a very good sales experience.

I have since taken my car in for service and the service department is very accomodating and mindful of my time.

My Review of The Autobarn Volkswagen of Mt. Prospect:
Recommended specifically to this dealer by friend that is employed by VW credit. I was not surprised by his referral based on my experience. The staff was quite friendly (once we connected (read below). I did not have a specific appointment, but would have expected to be greeted sooner than I was.

Even though I had a bit of a wobbly start to my Autobarn experience, it soon picked up steam. Cliff Nelson (Internet Sales) was extremely thorough and quick to counter any offer I made. Raffi came in to seal the deal and I was off in a CPO Jetta Wagon. I feel I was fortunate, as the vehicle has been owned by customers of this dealer exclusively, so all service has been done there and the car is mint. Had it not been for the lack of mp3 player input and other 2005-esque features, I would have sworn I was driving off the lot with an `09!

The distinction between "pre-certified" and "certified" is a bit misleading, so be careful about where you begin your price negotiation. When comparing pricing on a pre-certified vehicle be sure to account for the additional expense to certify the car, somewhere between 1200-1500, depending on the vehicle. In spite of this minor aggravation, I can still say that I would not have gotten this car for a penny less at any other VW dealer (trust me, I tried). In fact, this deal was BEGAN hundreds lower than I was able to negotiate elsewhere on a comparable vehicle. I have not been in for service yet, but judging by the condition of this car, I will not be disappointed. I have already recommended a few friends and would do so over and over. I purchased a VW from Bill Jacobs in Naperville in 2004. While the experience there was nice, it paled in comparison to the Autobarn both in selection and customer service.

My Review of The Autobarn Volkswagen of Mt. Prospect:
I have leased a Phaeton from Autobarn for 4 years. During this period I had superior service from John Paul and built a confidence in the dealership. I enjoyed the car so much that I wanted to purchase it. Cliff and Raffi enabled me to have the car certified by Volkswagen and then purchase it at a competitive price with a warranty. I don't believe I would have recieved this type of opporunity with any other dealership. The certification price was affordable, the ease of making the transaction happen was terrific. The sale staff and management made me feel like they had my best interest in mind.
I would reccomend this dealership to anyone looking for a vehicle.

My Review of The Autobarn Volkswagen of Mt. Prospect:
I became a customer of this dealership when i bought my 1st VW in 2006, It was a brand new Passat. The expierence was so awesome!! They answered each one of my questions and made sure I liked the car that i purchased. Because of that, I recently came back and purchased a 2009 CC Passat. Once again they were at their best!! They took care of my every need and made me feel like family. I returned the CC soon after just cause it was too much of a sporty ride for me, and I once again purchased a Passat, a 2009, and between Robert and Raffi, they made the deal so smooth. I definitley have already and will continue to reffer my friends and family to The Autobarn. I wish every dealer worked to their standards. Thanks GUYS!

My Review of The Autobarn Volkswagen of Mt. Prospect:
I went into this dealership couple of months back, looking for a used Touareg for my brother. The price was high, so I asked them if they were willing to negotiate. They brought in the manager for car sales talked to me for 30 mins totally unwilling to bring the car price a penny down. I was game with that...it's their car they can price it whatever they want. My brother got a good deal at Volkswagon in Melrose Park.

Now few days back I went in again hoping I can get a good deal this time. I wanted to trade in my Jaguar. I ran into the same sales person. He was totally pissed at me for coming into the dealership since I had not bought the car from him last time. I told him, this time I am hoping I can make a deal. They came back after looking at my Jag and gave me a price. It was an unreasonable price, so I asked if they were willing to consider a different price. At this point the manager came from inside and shook our hand and told us to get out. I was totally shocked at his behavior. I thought customers came first. I saw rest of the other guys whom I had met on the earlier visit having a laugh at this. Totally unfriendly, no respect for customers.

My Review of The Autobarn Volkswagen of Mt. Prospect:
Dont know Diesels (TDI).. I brought mine in to have the timing belt changed.. I ended up paying $1009 for a job that should have costed no more then $650. I asked if a Inj. timing check was performed, I recieved a DEER IN HEADLIGHTS LOOK! My Inj. Timing is -6 deg retarted after the belt was installed.. Before it was advanced 2.4 deg. My car has absoutly no power what so ever because the timing is so retarted. I dont know what to do now because i refuse to take it back there. Maybe this is a good dealer for regular gasoline engines, but if you're the proud owner of a diesel, DO NOT TAKE YOUR CAR THERE! If anyone would like proof of the timing mistake, i used Vag-Com to record the data. I also plotted out a graph to show. They also didnt connect the wastgate pressure line so, the turbo wasnt producing any Boost pressure. I also noticed a huge boost leak as well. So, i had to repair this myself, in my driveway after paying them over a grand......
