Employee(s) Dealt With: Jim the service manager

My Review of Tom O'Brien Hyundai of Quincy:
I recently uncoverd that the service department had misinformed me that I needed to have work done to keep my warrenty & I got it done. Low and behold I had already gotten it done with them. Yes, they made a "mistake" I guess, but I questioned them and they said no I never had it done there. OMG are you kidding me I spent money at a different place to have the same work done, due to them lying to me. I contacted them and am still waiting for Jim the service manager to compensate me for the "mistake" they made. I honestly don't belive it was a mistake, I believe they purposefully do this to people to make money and hope people don't realize that they have been had. I tried to correct this with them, but have gotten no where.
I would NEVER recommend this dealship, even though it was the service department i have an issue with, it reflects the entire dealership and how they work.
Please think twice before shopping or having service there.
There are many other dealships out there.
I love my Santa Fe, but don't like being lied to, cheated and treated like I don't matter.

Employee(s) Dealt With: Jim Gagnon

My Review of Tom O'Brien Hyundai of Quincy:
I have purchased my car, an Accent, from Tom O'Brian Hyundai about 4-5 years ago. I then got into a serious accident and the car was totalled. I went back to them and they immediately placed me in a new 2006 Elantra, and worked with me on everything from Fianancing to delivery of the car to my place of work. I drive high miles, and as a result, have to go in for my maintenance quite regularly. Just recently I have moved to Gloucester, and my waterpump went. I brought it to another local dealer, and they quoted me over 1200 dollars to repair my vehicle!!!! I had just recently had all my belts replaced, including the timing belt at Tom OBrien of Quincy, so when the local dealer claimed that all my belts were rotted and needed to be replaced as well as the pump, I immediately called the service manager Jim Gagnon. He immediately told me that the belts did not need to be changed out, and that my waterpump was still under warrantee, and proceeded to work with the DM of Hyundai and brought my car from the local Northshore dealership to Tom OBrien Hyundai to complete the repairs. I cannot say enough about the Service Departments commitment to not only quality work, but also to the lost art of Customer Service in making sure I don't feel like a number, and that even if I need to spend monies on repairs (who likes to spend money?)that I'm getting the best value, and a needed service.
I also am greeted by name from Marcus who worked with me in purchasing my two cars, going above and beyond what you would expect from a sales person, as well as by Elizabeth, who Manages the whole operation with her father. Great family Owned and Operated Dealership, My next vehicle will be from Tom OBrian Hyundai of Quincy.

Employee(s) Dealt With: Mike

My Review of Tom O'Brien Hyundai of Quincy:
I needed to get a new car for my wife and a friend told me to try Tom O'Brien Hyundai in Quincy. I spoke to a salesman named Mike and we talked about my options. Mike informed me that my trade-in qualified for the Cash for Clunkers Program. We test drove an Elantra and discussed price and finance options. All of this was very low pressure and friendly....not exactly what I expected but certainly refreshing. Bottom line is that we got the car we wanted for a great price and it was actually a pleasant experience. That is why I would definitely buy another car from Tom O'Brien Hyundai and would gladly recommend them to my friends.

My Review of Tom O'Brien Hyundai of Quincy:
I've had my Hyundai Elantra for 9 years and its running like a dream. I've had my car serviced at Tom O'Brien a few times and have had nothing but a good experience. I will be purchasing my next car from Tom O'Brien when I have to trade my Elantra in. I sent my parents to Tom O'Brien, and they're driving a 2008 Sonata. They couldn't have been more complimentary of the staff.

Employee(s) Dealt With: Mike Learmonth

My Review of Tom O'Brien Hyundai of Quincy:
I've been a lifelong Toyota fan, but felt that with my current job situation, I needed to check out more economical options.

Tom O'Brien Hyundai was the third dealership I visited. I test drove the Touring, and LOVED it. I ended up walking out the door with it that day.

However, what impressed me both was how friendly and knowledgeable everyone was at the dealership (especially Mike). The entire experience was so awesome--after all, buying a car should be fun, right?

It's shocking how few dealers actually get this point. Other dealers either completely hassled me or didn't take me seriously. I feel that getting good service, as well as respect, is oftentimes different for a woman when buying a car (as a matter of fact, it has been proven that men walk out with significantly better prices than woman). That was most certainly NOT true at Tom O'Brien. I felt like I was treated great and am confident Mike made sure I got a killer deal on a car I'll drive forever.

I had a really good experience. You should check them out.

Employee(s) Dealt With: Mark Salbo

My Review of Tom O'Brien Hyundai of Quincy:
I would definately not recommend this dealership to my worst enemy. I put $1000 cash down payment, by the time I left I wish I never had. I was first told the car was a 2010 & had AWD, then I am told it's a 2009 & has FWD. I went to another dealership & got a great deal. When I called Mike Salbo he told me I wouldn't get my deposit back. I never even drove the car and he won't give me my money back. He is screwing a hard working single parent. The other dealership I went to even tried to get the money & he won't give it to them, now I am out $2000 instead of $1000 since I had borrowed some of the down payment. Don't deal with these people, they are a bunch of thieves. I even called the owner Tom O'Brien, briefly told him what happened, said he would call me back & never did. This whole situation has made me sick to my stomach. I wish there was someplace for consumers to go to help them out in situations like this.

Employee(s) Dealt With: Jessica and Marcus

My Review of Tom O'Brien Hyundai of Quincy:
I called O'Brien Hyundai on two vehicles I saw on the their Internet site, a dark cherry red Sonata GLS and a Sonata SE. Jessica told me both car were available and if I wanted to come to Quincy she would have them out for me to inspect. She also told me they both had carmel interiors like I wanted. On Tuesday, 8/11/09 I called to let her know we would be coming from Woburn to Quincy to see the cars. When we got to O'Brien Hyundai we asked for her and she came out and immedately turned us over the a salesman name Marcus to see the cars. She would not talk to us from that point on and we did not undersatnd why until Marcus could not locate the Sonata GLS and he told us it must have been sold, but they did have the Sonata SE, but the interior was black which she said was carmel on the telephone when we discussed both cars. Jessica was very dishonest in my opinion and I would never trust her. Marcus tried to cover for her, but you could see he was not happy even when we pressed him to have Jessica explain herself when we were out in the lot. He said she does not come on the side of the lot we were at, but guess what she was 50 feet away from us showing a car to a potential buyer. At that point we were knew it was fuitless to even think of buying a car from Tom O'Brien Hyundai. I feel very disappointed that we were treated so badly after driving all the way to Quincy. Jessica did not have the common courtesy to e-mail or call me to correct the information she gave me. She deserves to be fired for her incompetence. Enough said other than I would never recommend buying a vehaicle from Tom O'Brien Hyundai.

Employee(s) Dealt With: Jim (but he is not the problem person-s)

My Review of Tom O'Brien Hyundai of Quincy:
I have been to this dealership on numerous occasions for oil changes and regular scheduled services. The problems I experienced (and they were caught) were that the actual service(s) did not get completed but they expected me to pay for them initially until I provided evidence that the service(s) were not completed. It was complete silence and the manager ended up giving me the service free and a couple of free oil changes. Whoopie! That's what I have to say about it. This is extremely concerning and I'm sure would not make the owner proud to have people sitting on their but smoking cigarettes and reminiscing without completing a service. It's scary to know that you leave your vehicle for things to be left undone. I no longer trust anyone there and I don't ever leave my vehicle. Sad, considering I paid CASH for my vehicle not that it makes a difference where others may have car payments. I find it appauling that they tell you to come back in two hours and I wait and watch and they are done in 5 minutes!!!! I feel if you can't manage your job then get out...you don't deserve to be paid! Because of my terrible experience I now don't have faith in many service departments. So, if they want a pat on the back for poor service...then they got it. They shouldn't take on more vehicles than they can handle this is part of the reason things don't get done. I would love to share two individuals I've had experience with working on my vehicle but I will save the embarrassment. It is very sad because I use my vehicle for work and drive many miles so when my coworker's ask about my vehicle....I tell them about my experiences and it turns them away! I tell them not to bother and that it is nothing but a scam. Again, the owner should feel very proud of his employees! They didn't just get caught once but three times!!!! You think they would learn after the first. I feel there are a couple of mechanics that should not be in that field....they clearly couldn't seem to figure out the problems with my vehicle but had no problem making up things! I would rather hear "I'm not sure, but we will keep searching to find the problem" instead of lying to my face. This service department definitely needs schooling on how to be a mechanic and not scam customers. Disappointed!!
