My Review of Volvo of Fort Washington:
I bought a Volvo S80 and I needed to buy parts so I went into the dealership and asked for some prices. The person behind the counter, who was the parts manager, sort of eyed me down and eventually asked what I was looking for. I am considerably younger then most S80 drivers, which I believe is why he looked at me that way, but I decided shrug it off. Throughout the experience he constantly made comments such as "I work here and you don't," and when I further inquired about receiving a discount because I work at a dealer, he stated "Prove it." I attempted to explain that I only work on Saturdays (because I am still in school) and I did not know my tax number or anything like that. He responded by saying "anyone can claim they work at a dealer" and when I said that I had a work shirt in my car, something that nobody would really want to wear or ask for, he stated "anybody can get a shirt." Now don't get me wrong, I get where he was coming from, but what I have mentioned is only a minor portion of my horrible experience, and to make it worse, I had purchased discount parts from them before with no issue not only for myself, but for my dealer as well. I can only assume he had forgotten those occasions. I feel as though this absurd situation involving the origin of the shirt has totally violated that sort of trust we all want in people we buy expensive products from. And don't get me wrong, I'm not upset about the discount; this is totally about how I was treated. Only after dealing with the arrogant, degrading, rude, and extremely offensive personnel in the parts department, I will never return to this dealer, no matter how close to it I live. I left upset and called later in the evening, but only to be hung up on and told "I'm sorry you feel that way" constantly by the same person. They will never get my business again and they most certainly do not deserve yours. I work for a Mercedes-Benz dealer located just across the street, I know about how to treat people and this is certainly not how we handle customers, especially dealer colleagues. I can not imagine how they treat normal customers considering how they would treat somebody who works at a dealer across the street. It's almost embarrassing, but I think that treating the customer with respect is important.
