My Review of Volvo of Richardson:
My wife and I selected a beautiful new Volvo for her at Volvo of Richardson. We spent about 8 hours of our time at the dealership during a total of 4 visits. Our salesman was well-informed, cordial, and very patient. We agreed on a fair deal with our salesperson and the sales manager, Sam. The following day we obtained financing through Volvo and I verbally confirmed the terms of the deal with my sales rep who went back to Sam the manager and re-confirmed all of the details. We were scheduled to pick up the car and sign the paperwork the following day. Just to make sure everything was crystal clear, I re-communicated the specifics of the deal by phone before we left to make the 30 minute drive to the dealership the next morning. I just had a bad feeling there was going to be a bait and switch ..... and there was ....... over a pathetic $200. Sam, the most stereotypically "sleazy used car salesman" you can possibly imagine, denied we were ever offered the deal that we had confirmed 2 days in a row ..... and wanted an extra $200. We declined to purchase the car. I was told later that he gloated that he had attempted to squeeze an extra $200 from us. Later that day, our salesperson ran the deal past the dealership's other sales manager, Cliff, who I had met briefly on a previous visit. He was incredulous, and immediately approved the deal and asked that we come back in. In the meantime, my wife had selected another vehicle at another dealership, but I had fallen in love with the Volvo so much, that I asked for the same financial deal on a similar Volvo in a color and with other options I preferred. Cliff, the "good manager", approved this deal as well, and I came in the next day to pick up the car. Unfortunately for Volvo of Richardson, Sam, the human deal killer, was in attendance. I attempted to avoid speaking to the little lying dishonest piece of crap, but he approached my wife and I and immediately began taking credit for getting me the same deal on the new car I was buying! So not only did he lie to me and bait and switch on my first deal, but he took credit for helping me get a great 2nd deal when in fact he wasn't even at the dealership at the time I dealt with the other manager, Cliff. As our conversation became a 20 minute yell fest, Sam repeatedly attempted to change the subject, when all I wanted was for him to either 1)admit that he had lied and raised the price $200 2)apologize and at least agree that there had been a miscommunication about the price, or 3)shut up and stay out of my way so I could buy my damn car from somebody that had not lied to me. Unfortunately, Sam did none of the above, and stuck to the ever popular phrase they teach you in business school "The customer is always wrong". He so upset me with his snide comments and unapologetic attitude, that I handed him the new car keys, and told him that he had managed not only to screw up my wife's car deal, but to screw up my 2nd deal as well. We walked out, after the dealership had spent the entire day tinting the car's windows, switching out the stock wheels/tires and adding chrome wheels, and cleaning and detailing the car. I would say that sales manager Sam is not doing a very good job of helping Volvo of Richardson make money. Interestingly, I heard after this episode that Sam enjoys boasting that he is the dealership's owner as well, when in fact he has worked there as an employee, not in an ownership capacity, for far less than one year. I highly recommend this dealership, as long as you have an employee work schedule and plan your visit during a shift not expertly commandeered by Sam.
