My Review of West Ashley Toyota Scion:
My wife wanted a Camry. My income and credit report is very good. My bank will give me 6% on an auto loan. I mentioned this upfront.
Next came the negotiation. Keys were taken for trade in information; we were left in the waiting room, ill equipped for families with children.
Long story short. Lots of waiting, good-cop/bad-cop routines. Lots of "I don't knows", "the finance people handle that", and more waiting.
When I asked how long it was going to take, I had smoke blown up my butt.
Our salesman stalled some more, and wasn't really doing anything but
making us wait and gauging us from time to time, probably hoping we'd become irritated enough to trade our cow for a handful of beans.
It began to look ridiculous, and I noticed that most folks that were there when we came in had left.
We had our 2 year old and 4 year old with us, and since they missed lunch, I offered to come back after dinner and see what they could come up with. I was told that they would be only a few more minutes.
About 40 minutes later, as I was walking out, since the salesman grew amnesia and forgot where he put our keys, we pulled out our spare keys and decided to leave.
Magically, the keys reappeared and the finance guy was ready for us.
Finance boy gave an unconvincing show by pretended to be working up figures on his computer, and then handing over figures from a stack of generic forms on his desk.
At this point, we were out of there. Still, no keys in hand, we got into our cars to leave when Some incredibly understanding guy came out to play the other good cop, (or was it gooder cop?).
Anyway, long story short, the ball is in your court Honda...
