My Review Of Wilkins Subaru:
I was in the market for a "winter car" that would allow me to work on my (at the time only) car, which is a Corvette. After doing some research, I'd settled on the Subaru Forester, and I tried finding the best possible price by talking to multiple dealers in Maryland.
Most of them tried to coerce me into buying something they had on the lot, to the point of belittling some of the options I was interested in. For example, I wanted HID lighting because, having modified my Corvette to support a HID lighting system, I felt that the price difference between a Forester X/XT Limited and a Touring model was worth it for just the HID lighting alone. One dealer said, "Awww, that just makes your lights blue... you'd be fine with a Limited model"
Since I also wanted a leather interior, I had another dealer who had located a Premium model that lacked leather seats tell me that for $1,000, he could have a custom leather interior put in that would be "better than anything from the factory"
Finally, when I did find cars that were close to what I wanted -- at the time I was interested in a Forester X (not just the XT I eventually bought from Wilkins) -- they lacked things like the aero cross bars, cargo mat, and other features. Adding these to the car at the dealer involved ridiculously high labor costs. Items that were just $180 as part of the price of a new car suddenly because e$250-$350 options because the dealer had to install them. Adding a few things that i wanted (such as cargo nets!) jacked up the prices of these cars they had in stock to the point where I became very frustrated with the whole buying process.
I decided to give Wilkins a try, and from the start they took a different approach with me. They asked me what I wanted -- and I decided to aim for my ideal ride, the Forester XT with all the options I wanted. Then they asked me what price I was aiming for, and I essentially "named my price," and they agreed they could get me in the ballpark. I came in to the dealership, priced out the car with all the options, and placed an order in December.
I just took delivery two days ago, and I'm thrilled with the car and the experience of buying from Wilkins. I've already told my friends & family about them, and I look forward to doing business with them again the next time I buy a car.
