I do not usually write reviews but I felt so strongly about this I decided to write one. I bought a 2011 Subaru Forester from Barry's Auto Center in March 2023. I live over an hour away but because of the fantastic 2 year warranty I decided it was worth the drive. I work very hard and did not want to end up with a lemon. In the less than six months I have had the car. I have made numerous trips to mechanics including 2 trips back to Barry's for an oil smell that has been there since day one. First they said it was a transmission leak, but took back 2nd time for not fixing correctly and replacing lines. There wasnt a 3rd because they wouldnt cover this time under warranty. Finally took to a reputable subaru dealer. Short version is the oil smell and issue with the o2 sensor is due to oil leak which has been happening long before I bought the car and it is going to cost more than $3000 to get fixed along with wheel bearing issue which was also a problem when I bought the car. The Subaru dealer suggested I trade it in. When I told him I bought the car less than six months ago he was dumbfounded. We talked to the owner of Barry's auto center and he refuses to help us despite the fact that problems were there when I bought the car from him. Due to all this I cannot recommend this car dealership. Its too bad that this business does not care to do right by its customers who keep them in business in the first place. Now I am stuck paying 5 years for a car I cannot afford to fix and a car dealership who refuses to make this right. My only option is to file a complaint with the attorney general's office.
Large selection for a used car place. Every car comes with a 2 year drivetrain warranty, They have an on-site service area. It seems like they would be motivated to evaluate their cars thoroughly so as to avoid making good on that warranty. They were pleasant to do business with. They did the registration/plate/inspection legwork (like a new car dealer), I just paid my money and drove away. I recommend them.
