My Review of freeway ford:
My wife and I decided to take advantage of the CARS program. We went on Friday July 31st, both of us left work early as the government suggested getting in now to take advantage. We called in advance because we knew we wanted a Ford Focus. They had some on the lot and it was just a matter of deciding which one we wanted. We spent about 30 minutes or so working with our salesman, who admitted he was knew but was relatively versed in what options and packages were available. We went for a quick test drive (It took about 15 minutes to get the car started because the battery had died at some point, why do they not check these things????) and decided we were ready to make our purchase. Anyway after getting everything decided in about an hour roughly we sat in the salesman’s office for another 2 hours while they ran some numbers. From what we could tell they went into MS Excel entered some number for how much we put down with the discounts and all the other stuff and asked us which we prefer. Which we choose one in 2 seconds and were done with that part. Why does it take 2 hours to print off a spreadsheet. I'm amazed, I'd likely get fired taking that long for such a menial task. Finally my wife had to leave to pick up our daughter from day care. The annoying thing is we asked how long it would take for the whole process and they said, it would be just a couple of hours. So after my wife left, I finally talked to someone who must have been a manager and that person said here's all the paper work you need to fill out. We had to get our last year's insurance coverage from when we were with a different provider, easy enough except they had us sit in that room for 2 hours and the insurance company was nearly closed at this point. We also needed our lien release, what a joke of a process that is, shame on you state of Minnesota and your lenders. But knowing we wouldn't be taking home a car we were done for the day.

Next, we were going to go in Saturday to finish up our financial paperwork but our salesman never called us back to say we'd finish the deal that day, so we held off as it's a long drive from our home. That Monday 8/3 we get a call from our salesman that we need to hurry in to get our financial paper work completed, so we arrange for babysitting and cruise down there. We've got all of our loan things accomplished and they finally agree to put the sold sign on our car (even though we already put down $1000), cool it's finally ours. We're told we should be able to take delivery late that week. So we wait. Finally on Tuesday afternoon we get a call they need a copy of our license that they can't read, which they photocopied. OK, what took almost 2 days to realize you needed the copy? Not sure. So then we wait and wait. Finally on Friday, 8/7, I give them a call to find out what's going on. My CARS application is still pending approval. They assure me they have a good process for notifying folks that they've been approved. This is the first time I'm hearing that we're pending approval at all from the CARS program. I've asked if we've had all our ducks in a row on Monday (8/3), Wednesday (8/5) when I faxed my license over and now am finally hearing this after I initiated the call.

So here we are on Monday 8/10, one week after completing all the financing and a week and a half since making our selection of our new car. We receive a voicemail from our salesman that they are still working on it. No reason as to why we're waiting. I have to assume its the CARS program but am not sure. There seems to be very few knowledgeable staff there, who can actually help us.

I understand dealing with the government can be frustrating and tedious. But the lack of information and the undelivered promises will ensure that I don't go back to this dealership. If you want a good car buying experience at a Ford Dealer go to Tousley Ford, they were all out of Focuses otherwise I would have went there instead.
