I just wanted to take a moment to explain my 5 star experience with Flemington Subaru, My wife and I were looking for a dependable car for the best value. I reached out to several dealerships online and it was like I was a piece of meat in shark infested waters. Now our old car we had bought from Flemington in the past and had a great experience. Chris Wood was the dealer that contacted me first via email. He had no pressure approach which made the experience great right away. Immediately I gave him my personal cell number and we set up a meeting.
When my wife and I came to the dealership it became more of a family experience instead of a sales experience. Right away we struck up a conversation and had a lot in common. We didn't even talk about the car right away. Once we got to know each other I explained what I wanted, which was a Subaru Forrester. I laid out the options I wanted and we started talking about price. I had already done my homework and knew what I wanted to pay. I also had a trade in but wasn't sure if I was going to include that.
That's when I was introduced to Frank DeCraine. Immediately he gained my trust when I found out he was a former Marine. We hat served in pretty much the same years. So now we are two former military men talking to each other talking about our experiences. He then looked over my old vehicle and made sure he got me the best value if I wanted to use it for a trade in.
Needless to say we then took a car for a test drive and we knew we loved the car. Now came negotiated time. No stress involved and I already had a price set in my head. Chris made sure he gave me the greatest price I could get and presented it to me. It was well under what I wanted to pay and we agreed to the set price. One problem we wanted a color they did not have at the time. Not a problem he assured and ordered one immediately. Two weeks later we came down to see our new vehicle.
At this time we were introduced to Eric Henderson who is the business manager. Nicest guy in the world. He already knew about us and what a great family man. We went over the finalities of our purchase which was quick and painless and wound up getting a service package at a great deal.
This was a great buying experience with no pressure. I would definitely buy another car from these guys. If your looking for a military and family appreciative dealer Flemington Subaru should be your choice. I look forward to doing my service with them and maintaining some friendships I've made there. I am thoroughly disgusted with my recent experience that occurred today.
Everything is fine and dandy with their service department, until it's not. In the last few months, I have had a whole series of things go wrong with my car, none of which should have occurred on a vehicle that is only two years old, but that is not even the issue.
When I brought the car in and left it for a long period of time recently, they failed to replace a burnt out fuse that is connected to the charger in the console between the driver's seat and the passenger's seat. Inconvenient, particularly as I live an hour away, but not terrible, right?
But after that fuse was replaced and I drove away, I realized, as I was almost home, that the passenger window was no longer operational. When I glanced at the clock to see if the dealership was still open, I realized that the clock and temperature indicator were also not working.
Next up, I discovered while driving at night, in the rain, that the entire a/c and heating system wasn't working, which was rather unnerving, as that meant that I couldn't defog the windshield on the inside, so I couldn't see where I was going.
As I don't live nearby, I sent an e-mail to the service department, cc'ing the head of the service department, outlining my concerns, and saying that I needed to come back again to get these things fixed, and would like to discuss remuneration for my ongoing inconvenience at that time.
A week went by with no response. So I resent the e-mail, this time cc'ing the head of the dealership. I heard back from the head of the service department who told me to bring the vehicle back, and as I was going to be within forty minutes of the dealership the next day, I did. After arriving at the dealership and putting the car in for service, I introduced myself to the head of the service department and said that I would like to speak with him after the car was fixed about possible remuneration.
His response was that a.) That wasn't going to happen, and b.) "All of the fuses were in the wrong place."
"If they are all in the wrong place" I said, "then your repair guys must have put them there."
At which point he basically called me a liar and said that his workmen wouldn't ever have put them back that way, as 'Everything was in the wrong place.'"
First of all, I don't even know where the fuses are located in my car, and second, no one else has been near the car for repairs other than the dealership. That is why I bought a two year extended warranty! The idea that i would somehow try to mislead him was so ludicrous that I was left practically speechless.
Before I could pick my jaw off the floor, he walked away. I have never been so flabbergasted by a "Customer Service" person in my life.
I repeat "DO NOT GO HERE!"

This was the worst experience I have ever had leasing a car. I sat down with the salesman and discussed everything about the car I was getting and we agreed upon a monthly price for a zero-money-down lease. He had a car in stock and I signed an internal document agreeing to the price and he told me because it was late I could come back the next day to sign all the papers and he would have the car prepped for delivery. I left the dealership thinking I had just leased a new car.
When I returned the next day, he took me into Greg, their finance manager. The lease agreement he handed me had a price which was $50 a month more than I had agreed to the day before. He started telling me that the car had extra options which increased the price. The salesman knew exactly which car he was selling me the day before and was aware of any options the car had. He claimed that he would be losing money if he leased it to me at the price I had agreed to with the salesman (when have you heard that before?).
At this point, the conversation went downhill and I saw no point in continuing with this dealer. As I was leaving he said that no dealer could sell me that car at the price I wanted.
I still needed a car so I looked up another dealer in the area and I found Richard Lucas Subaru. I went from the dealer from xxxx to one of the nicest experiences of leasing a car. Not only did they lease me the same car for my original price but they made the experience pleasurable. I will tell you about it in a review of their dealership.
As far as Open Road Subaru, I would recommend gong to any other Subaru dealer other than this one.
