Russ Darrow Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram of Madison - Madison, WI

I showed up to buy a minivan, was told I qualified, picked out a van, gave manager Ryan a check for $3000 (downpayment), took the van home. Ryan told me I would do all the signing of the paperwork the next day because the creditor we were dealing with was closing. He also said he wouldn't deposit my check until the paperwork was signed. Ryan called me the next day (a friday) and informed me that he had jumped the gun and I would need to bring the van back (I didn't qualilfy afterall). Of course I was upset and I told him I would be there within 20 mins. About 10 minutes later I arrived at the dealership and was told that Ryan had just left for vacation (no, I'm not kidding). At that point I started dealing with Jason (another manager) and I told him I wanted my $3000 check back since I was returning the van. He informed me that the check had already been taken to the bank (before any paperwork had been signed and after Ryan told me it wouldn't be cashed). Sure enough, the check cleared that night. On Monday morning (the next business day) I brought the proof from my bank that it had cleared (as Jason requested) and I was told I could get my check with a few hours. That didn't happen. I had to call over and over again all day long to get him on the phone and find out when I would be getting my money back. They had my $3000 and I had NO vehicle. I didn't get the check back until later that evening, so I wasn't able to get it deposited in my bank until Tuesday.

Also in regards to Ryan...He was very unprofessional, used profanity, including the "F word", constantly (I think he thought he was being funny or amusing). An example : When I told him my current vehicle had broken down on a cold winter day and left me stranded, his reply was, "Well your van is a D*CK"...again, that's just one example. He was ridiculous to the point that I was embarrassed for him.

One positive note : My salesperson was Bob and he was very friendly and professional.

I now have a 2011 Minivan that I love and I did NOT purchase it at Russ Darrow :)
