My Review of Park Ave Acura:
The dealership is smaller in scale compared to local competitors (I only saw roughly 20-25 used vehicles in their limited space), however they provide a more intimate environment that caters towards what you're looking for. This is a huge plus over large shops that sell solely based on quantity rather than quality.
I recently purchased a CPO 2009 Tech MDX from Park Ave Acura and I must admit that the process was both smooth and efficient (I was out the door with my new vehicle in 3 hours - including test drive, signed paperwork/insurance/finance).
Although you might pay a bit of a premium in price, it really is worth it compared to other CPO vehicles on the market. Unlike many other dealers that just give you a 150 point checklist (who knows how seriously they look at each of those indicators), my CPO vehicle came with 4 brand new Yokohama all seasons, new rotors/brakes, transmission/rear differential/power steering fluids, wipers and cabin filters.
I highly recommend Curt Lewis, who does a fantastic job being honest about the pro's and con's of purchasing an Acura vs other vehicles and/or dealerships. He gave me the low down on why certain vehicles with similar package and mileage sell for higher/lower prices, and gives honest opinions for what's right for you. For example, I was really interested in one vehicle and he would honestly explain why that was not a good idea, because they could not certify the vehicle due to certain requirements that could not meet their standards. And it was refreshing, because they were having trouble clearing this inventory from their lot (I knew because you can find out how long someone has the vehicle in their lot on carfax). So instead of being forced into a vehicle they want to get rid of, I was given the low down for why it was better to wait it out for a better vehicle. In addition, instead of telling me to buy an updated navi disc for $150 that I was interested in, he recommended I save the money because the updated maps weren't worth it for the minimal updates in the Northeast mapping.
The finance manager was also very courteous and did not try to pressure me into purchasing additional warranties and/or options (which is a nice change of pace from other dealers that try to freak you out about why the additional warranties are absolutely necessary... Although I recommend the 5 year tires/wheels warranty if you live in NYC like me. Those potholes creates bubbling of the tire and the warranty covers this).
Lastly, I had a few payments remaining on my TSX lease, and they were able to eat the final payments instead of attaching it to the final vehicle price like many other dealers. This was a nice bonus, as the car itself had upside down equity and was the biggest headache when I tried negotiating price with other dealers.
Overall, you may pay a premium of $1000 or so compared to some other dealers in the tri-state, but it really is worth it when you consider all the work they put into the CPO vehicle. Check the carfax and maintenance history of CPO vehicles prior to purchase, and you'll see that Park Ave does the most work on their vehicle before it's sold. And in the long run, that will more than make up for the slight premium. Combined with the excellent service provided, I can see why Park Ave. Acura won the Dealer Rater of the Year.
Keep it up guys!
