Difficult customer I had the worst experience ever. Family and I are currently shopping for 3 vehicles. My brother was looking at prices for a particular vehicle, we wer I had the worst experience ever. Family and I are currently shopping for 3 vehicles. My brother was looking at prices for a particular vehicle, we were not deceitful and told them we weren’t ready to sign today unless we had a good deal. Long story short they wouldn’t move forward without pulling credit they signed papers and shook our hand that we had a deal for the vehicle at $30K out the door. Once credit was pulled (770 score) and we said no down payment the road blocks started. They now needed all these other documents we didn’t have. For every rebuttal we were able to say we would take care of it. It is Saturday and realistically most lenders are not available. They mentioned they needed docs cause lender was asking for certain stipulations. When asked what lender? They said they hadn’t run it yet. 4 hours later David Reyes identified himself as the main manager on duty, I asked what was stopping the deal he mentioned it was the down payment and when I asked him fine how much do you need let’s do this. He then said said his word was final and because I was being “difficult” he refuses to do business with us. Wow for customer experience! Even though we signed docs he refused to provide us copies even when we got there he was asking for us to provide him with the offer we had received from the other dealership. I’m sure this is borderline in violation of the fair lending laws. Anyone else have had similar experiences? I’m so disappointed. Buyer beware! More

UPDATED: Dishonest and Would Not Buy Again There UPDATED: (read below for initial review)--I was contacted by David Reyes from the dealership who was going to take care of the jamming passenger handl UPDATED: (read below for initial review)--I was contacted by David Reyes from the dealership who was going to take care of the jamming passenger handle, scuff marks they left on the driver door, the chip on the INSIDE of the windshield, and spots on the inside of the headlights. They were going to bring the loaner to my office because I am an attorney who is in trial/court every day and also live 1.5 hours from the dealership, and take my car back to repair those issues since I purchased it 1 week ago. As of yesterday and this morning, we were still "on." I was pleasantly surprised that David was doing. HOWEVER, I filled out the Toyota survey today with my honest negative review. Almost 15 minutes after I submitted it, David called me to tell me that their offer to bring me the loaner and repair my car was not going to happen because "we don't think we can make you happy." So, I said, so you are not going to complete the "we owe you" ticket items and things you promised, and bring me the loaner like you said yesterday (and like Will said when we purchased the car)? He said, "That's correct." He then said I can drive down there (knowing good and well I live 1.5 hours from there and can't just leave court in the middle of trial) at my convenience. I said, "This is because I wrote a negative review?" He said yes and it seems I'm not going to be happy anyhow. TO MAKE MATTERS WORSE, I called Toyota Corp Financial and also the GS Admin (warranty company), who informed me my warranty wasn't funded until November 25 at 10pm! This is significant because I called on Nov. 25 morning to cancel the warranty and redo the contract so my monthly payments would lower, but Iker Fernandez said he couldn't do that since it "was already funded on 11/24." Essentially, he lied completely! I spoke with the bank themselves, and with warranty company (who was closed 11/24/17 and 11/25/17!!). I did call corporate today and they were floored at all of this. ORIGINAL REVIEW: To make a long story short(ish), I’ve been looking to trade in my new Mazda because it was hurting my back severely within a week of purchase. The RAV4 was a great car that felt good on my back. I had been looking for prices and speaking w people in North Austin and San Marcos—both great dealerships and honest. I then found a decent price on a Limited RAV4 in San Antonio online. I live close to Austin, and called the dealership and asked them if that online price was bottom line. If so, let me know. If not, what is it. Jonathan Narvaez told me “the best price we can give you is by having you present.” I asked him to clarify, and he said I can get the best price if I’m there. I told him i would leave work early, drive to the airport to get a Thanksgiving guest, then drive (what ended up being) 2 hours to San Antonio, but begged him please don’t lie to me because this is a long drive. So, I left work And picked up Dad at airport, drove 2 hours down to San Antonio in traffic. We get there. Jonathan says hello, then passes us on to another sales guy, Justin (very nice, but had no idea of the conversation Jonathan and Ihad). Then they low ball me on the trade in, telling me they don’t use KBB, and they didn’t need to (or want to) see what other Toyota dealerships offered me (Charles Maunde and Autonation in Austin would match KBB bc this was a brand new 2018 car i just bought 2 weeks prior). Then...Will came out and said the price on the RAV4 is firm, because this was an “ad” vehicle. He said it was posted online to draw people in hoping to buy something more expensive. My dad and I knew he was full of it, especially when he also told us there was nothing special about my 2018 Mazda CX-9–it’s made by Ford. I called the Mazda dealership (who are so amazing. I would recommend Roger Beasley to anyone! So nice and honest) and they said absolutely not. Two separate models, makes, and companies. Mazda is not Ford. I explained I drove a total of 3 hours there and felt deceived and lied to, and they didn’t care one bit. They came down $400 on the price of the online price, but that was it. I explained Charles Maunde in N Austin has a similar 2017 Platinum (more features) for less than this. Will said they’re probably not telling me the truth because it’s probably not on their lot. Guess what? It is. I called and verified w the manager there. In any case, I made the mistake of after 5 hours (yes, 5!!) of arguing over what I wanted them to come down another $400 and they wouldn’t, to just cave. I wish I didn’t. I will never recommend them to anyone else, and will make it my business to let fellow folks in San Antonio and surrounding cities that they are dishonest, flat out lie (an ad car posted online to pull people in? And I’m the lucky one who chose it?? Come on), and take advantage of out of towners. The one helpful person was Bobby in the detailing portion...who seemed genuine and honest. In all the dealerships I’ve been to, I’ve never been to one that was a “typical” old school car salesmen kinda place. This is it. Go elsewhere. No one tried to ever make things right, and that’s where they went wrong. More

Finance Dept Cannot take care of business I purchased a new vehicle on April 15, 2017. At the same time, I had a trade-in. After a couple of day, I called my credit union to see if the payof I purchased a new vehicle on April 15, 2017. At the same time, I had a trade-in. After a couple of day, I called my credit union to see if the payoff for my trade-in had been received. It had not, but it had only been a couple of days. I called again a few days later, and still no payoff from Cavender had been sent to my credit union. By now it's over a week later. I started calling the dealership daily trying to get answers. Finally on Saturday April 29 (two weeks after my purchase), I finally get in touch with Martin Silva. He indicated the check had been cut on April 20. He promised he would get back with me a provide a check number. That did not happen. Monday, May 1, I called again and Martin had a customer so I was transferred to David Reyes. I received the same run-around about the check and he was going to "run it down" and provide details. By this time, it was 7:50 pm. I demanded complete details by 12 noon on Tuesday. David did call back but I was unable to take the call. I called him back shortly and he told me the check was still at the dealership, it had been cut on April 20 but it had not been mailed. Now this is 17 days after I made my purchase and now a payment is due on the loan for the trade-in I no longer own!!!!! I have to make the payment because the LOAN HAD NOT BEEN PAID OFF!!!! Because of their negligence, I not only owe a note on my new vehicle, I still have to pay the note on the trade-in. This is not a joke! This was my first and last experience with Cavender. More

For my 06 solara, stated they could sell it, they were doing me a favor. I left, manager called me next day telling me that independent car buyer whom we never saw appraised my car, would be happy to buy my car. I didn't take their offer, they ran my credit after I clearly said no. A week later, David Reyes calls me back, asks if I still had 06 Solara, yes and I was crystal clear, I had already bought a car. He stated they wanted my car for purchase because, "the hail situation was winding down and they needed cars to sell, so if I came in, I would leave with check in hand. I came in and David passed me off to another salesman, told me, great news, they now offered me 2000.00 fot7my 06 Solara, why didn't they offer this to me the first time I was there? So salesman then asked me, what I bought, I told him but that was non of his business, I was brought in with intent of toyota buying my 06 by an independent buyer, what a crock! They were still trying to take advantage of me. It was a ploy to manipulate, lie , Decieved me. I was seething. I am still seething!! Who wouldn't be. Cavender claims integrity, quality customer care, instead I was Decieved, lied, manipulated into buying their way, dismissing my bank. I will never walk into or recommend Cavender Toyota. Cavender had no remorse treating me second rate, I have no issues sharing my stressful, horrible experience. I will make every effort to locate Cavender Corp HQ, I'm sure Cavender family would be intrested how I was mistreated, disrespected. More

Not Helpful To Whom it May Concern, I’d like to share my recent experience at Cavender Toyota in hopes no other potential customers have a similar experience. To Whom it May Concern, I’d like to share my recent experience at Cavender Toyota in hopes no other potential customers have a similar experience. I initiated contact with Cavender on Friday, October 23 through the website after having visited Red McCombs Toyota to inquire about a 2016 Silver Toyota 4 Runner 4X2 Limited Edition with Redwood interior without third row seating. Red McCombs didn’t have a 4 Runner in stock with Redwood interior, however, they tracked one down in the system with my exact needs and said they could get it to San Antonio in few days. They gave me a sheet with the VIN number, MSRP, etc., however, they wouldn’t divert it to San Antonio unless I was serious about purchasing it. I told them I wanted to wait to make sure I liked the Redwood interior before making a decision. They explained they had a blue one coming in this week and that I could come in to take a look at the interior. In the meantime, they appraised my trade-in and gave me an estimate. I began corresponding with Julio Cervera at Cavender who said there was a 2015 Silver Toyota 4 Runner 4X4 Limited Edition with Redwood leader interior on the lot and he gave me a quote. I told him I’d like to come take a look at the interior to ensure I like it. I showed up at Cavenedar Saturday, October 24. Julio was tied up so he had Jesse Casillas take me to the car. Jesse was very nice. He showed me the 4 Runner, answered my questions and let me test drive it. I wanted to get a competitive offer on my trade in and inquire about Cavender finding a 4 Runner in the system that better matched my needs – maybe even find the same one Red McCombs found. I loved the interior color and decided I wanted to proceed and purchase a 4 Runner. I had a couple of questions about my trade in so when we got back inside the dealership Jesse came over with David Reyes. This is where things took an interesting turn. David asked me if I liked the 4 Runner. I said I did, except for the fact that it’s 4X4, has third row seating, pin striping and was not a 2016. Other than these things – yes, it was a great car. I asked if he could locate one in the area or find out if one was coming into Houston. He said he looked and there aren’t any coming in. At this point, I knew he was not being truthful because I had with me a quote on a 4 Runner that was scheduled to drop in Houston on October 27. I asked if he could look to see if maybe a Black 4 Runner with Redwood interior was coming in. He said, “No.” I asked, “Are you saying, ‘No,’ you won’t look or ‘No,’ you looked and couldn’t find one?" He said he looked and there are no 4 Runners coming in with Redwood interior period. He said he could special order one and it would take 6-8 months to arrive. Baffled and still trying to process what he was saying, I asked if he could have someone look at my trade in and give me a quote. He asked me again if I liked the 2015 4 Runner I drove. Again I said yes except for the items I had just mentioned that I did not need/want. There was an awkward silence as he stared at me. I asked again if he’d take a look at my trade. He asked if I’d consider making a deal on the 4 Runner. I said I probably would not, however, I would be interested in purchasing a 4 Runner that better met me needs. I then said, “Are you not willing to even look at my trade in.” He simply said, “No.” David essentially refused to have anyone look at my trade in until I agreed to purchase a 4 Runner with options I did not need/want. He said it wouldn’t do any good to appraise my car when it will change anyway before my “special order” 4 Runner would arrive (in 6-8 months). What he didn’t realize, I guess, is that customers often make a decision about where to buy a car based on how much a dealership is willing to offer on a trade-in. His unwillingness to even LOOK at my car was crazy to me. I’m hoping my experience was an isolated one. I left Cavender, went to Red McCombs and placed my order for the 4 Runner they showed was on its way to Houston. Red McCombs said there were multiple 4 Runners with Redwood interior coming in and I just needed to pick my color. My car will arrive in San Antonio in one week and I couldn’t be happier. I explained to the folks at Red McCombs what had happened and they said it’s a story they hear quite often. In short, I went to Cavender to take a look at the interior of a 4 Runner, give it a spin and get a quote on a vehicle you would have to locate and divert to San Antonio. David made that impossible. He made my decision to leave and go elsewhere very easy. I have nothing but praise for Jesse and Julio. They did their jobs. They got me to the dealership. David got me to leave. I hope this feedback is helpful. So far, emails/comments directly to dealership have not been acknowledged. More
