My Review of AutoFair Honda:
I often walk by Auto Fair Honda when walking my dogs, and one day, before the dealership opened, I walked through the lot and a Honda Fit caught my eye. I mentioned it to my wife. We went back later in the day and as we walked through the lot, Peter Wilcott came out to speak with us. He showed us a used Fit, we discussed the price range I was looking for, and exchanged contact information.
Peter called the next day and I told him that I really wasn't in the market for a new car. I was very happy with my 10-year old Civic EX that ran perfectly despite having 170K miles. I told Peter that if any specials or deals came up to give me a call and we left it at that.
A couple of weeks later Peter called me and told me that they had a 0.9% financing deal and that he thought he could find a new Civic or Fit in my price range. I went back to the dealership, test drove a Fit Sport and liked it.
Peter knew the car and its features, and was very aware of my financial requirements in purchasing a car. At no point did he use a “hard-sell” technique, and I appreciated his approach.
I cannot say the same for the “closer” that was brought in to finish the deal (whose name I unfortunately can’t remember). I explained to both Peter and the closer that I do not make impulse purchases, and that I wanted 24 hours to think about the deal. The closer refused to take that as an answer, repeatedly asking me, “What can I do to get you to leave here today in this car?” Though I continually told him there was nothing he could do to make that happen, he persisted. This was both uncomfortable and annoying and I left Auto Fair seriously doubting that I would purchase the car.
The following morning Peter called me and told me in their sales meeting that morning they had decided to grant a final concession for which I had asked. I went back to Auto Fair later that afternoon and agreed to purchase the vehicle.
The bottom line is that I would not have purchased the vehicle were it not for Peter Wilcott’s professional approach. He was honest, above board and persistent in a non-threatening or pressuring way. He took the time to listen to my needs in a car, and paid close attention to my financial requirements. I know Peter didn’t make a lot of money on this car, yet he approached the deal as if it were as big as any he had ever made. Peter has earned a customer for life and I give him my highest recommendation.
