UNWANTED ADD-ON DEALERSHIP. Their website shows the price of their "Hyundai Certified Pre-Owned" vehicles. At the bottom is says said “not including tax, title, and doc fee of $ Their website shows the price of their "Hyundai Certified Pre-Owned" vehicles. At the bottom is says said “not including tax, title, and doc fee of $358.03”. That's pretty standard. I called ahead to make sure Certified Pre-owned meant what it said and that it was included. They confirmed it was. Also asked if there was any added warranties/expenses; as some shady dealerships have a tendency to try to legally steal, using that method. The assured me that the price was the price, plus the 3 standard items. (Tax, title/license, doc fee). Tried to do a deal...Purchase agreement came back with this car at its listed price, a $2K upcharge for some paint protectant thing, and something like $2800 for the Hyundai Certified Warranty that was "included". Final price was nearly $8000 more than the list price.... On a three year old car with 55k miles. Not only did I drive 3 hours one way, but they also wasted several hours of our lives holding us there. I don't understand how they sell a single used vehicle, using these tactics. More

Our experience looking at cars was excellent. It was not until we found exactly what we wanted that the dealership experience went from excellent to terrible. We were forced into purchasing additional optional services like an interior and exterior protection plan that we were told was optional until we were ready to buy. Then they said well we add that to every car when we receive it here at the dealership so you have to pay for it. We were originally told it was $2000.00. they brought it down to $1300.00 but we later found out that it is only worth about $500.00 to have done outside the dealerships. This was a total rip off a bait and switch trick. I would never recommend purchasing a car from this dealership. Our sales guy was excellent. But as soon as the managers got involved with the sales price of the car it was nothing but lies, tricks and deceptive practices. Very Disappointed! Then to read the dealerships reply to others who had similar experiences it just made me even angrier. I normally do not fill out these reviews, but I felt complied to do so in this case to hopefully help other deal with the remorse I have for making such an important purchase from Elgin Hyundai. More

Jeff Taylor was great he wasn't pushy and allowed me to take my time. He answered all the questions I had about the car I wanted and showed me the cars that had exactly what I needed. Beware of trade in value deals with this dealership, they are false advertisements. I traded my 2020 Sonata a few months ago for 2024 Kona N-Line AWD. The deal was worked out through a sales manager great are false advertisements. I traded my 2020 Sonata a few months ago for 2024 Kona N-Line AWD. The deal was worked out through a sales manager great guy and very helpful. All dealerships have some miscommunication and false information. Elgin Hyundai was false advertisement for trade in value on vehicles. On the website there were information stated the dealership would give $5000 over KBB pricing. My 2020 Sonata was around $15,000 at most dealerships but 17,500 with Carvana and 15,548 at KBB. I owed 18,000 on my Sonata and was looking to trade, but not carry over any money. Elgin Hyundai best offer was $1600 even though the add stated 5000 over KBB value. I ask about the web page advertising with three different Elgin personnel and received three different answers. The most disappointing part of the deal along with not honoring the advertising, three weeks later they listed my Sonata SEL for resale for $19,991 on their website. Also, part of my deal was weather tech car mats for the Kona, its 1/2024 and I still haven’t received my car mats. Immediately when they call it's 'oh there's an issue with our pricing on the website and we're working on it, that car is actually $27,700 (listed on their website and Car Gurus for $25,814). So I wouldn't even bother wasting your time or letting them try to take advantage of you. More

Called and set up an appointment to see a used car they had advertised on the internet. When we got there, what do you know, the car was not available because it couldn't be certified. Salesman tried to sell us some other junk from the inventory but I would hesitate to buy from them after what I felt was a bait and switch. 2 stars because the salesman was nice and professional.
