My Review Of Smythe Volvo :

This is the second Volvo we've purchased from Kris and we will soon be purchasing our third from him. This is, without question, the easiest Auto dealership we have ever worked with and purchased cars from. Back in 2006 we purchased a CPO XC70 and the price for such a low-mileage car was terrific and the car itself was in near-pristine condition. Unfortunately, that car was totaled in a recent accident and, after seeing how well it held up (multiple impacts from two cars) and the fact that all occupants walked away without so much as a scratch, we were sold on Volvos for life. We came back to Kris to purchase another CPO XC70 and, with his help, realized that a brand new XC60 was within reach...with all the options we cared about (premiere w/metallic paint, climate, BLIS and chrome tailpipes). Again, we were sold and had everything done in about an hour at a price that was better than many of the websites we had been shopping.

As for service, the only difficulty I have ever had with Smythe, which is why only the "good" rating is the lack of loaner cars. The service center gets awfully busy, and their work, while not inexpensive, is always first-rate. As a result scheduling can become difficult if you need a loaner. Otherwise, the dealership is right near Summit train station and when I worked in the city I would just walk over to the train like so many others do.

Bottom line, this is a great dealership and from here on in is the only place we are going to go to satisfy our used/CPO/new car needs.

Our only remaining issue is which car to buy next...a CPO S80, C70 or new S60...choices, choices...

We have recently expanded our loaner fleet to help alleviate the time constraints a loaner car can put on a service visit. You'd be surprised how many families we have as customers where we first meet them with young children and before you know it we are servicing their children's Volvos. I cannot say enough positive things about my experiences with the team at Smythe Volvo. I just picked up my new car a few days ago & they even make the experience of getting a new car pleasant. This is my second car from Smythe which is why i also tagged the service team in my review. They are always helpful & friendly when i come in for service. I would not only recommend this dealership, i will continue to use them in the future

Review is for our purchase in October 2012. Tony Catarino is the sales person that helped us at that time.
We shopped around for a while before we bought our 2012 s60 there. This is the dealership we recommend if buying volvo.

Our service writers have been with us for 17 years on average. This experience really shines through in their product knowledge and customer knowledge. They know what may be wrong with the vehicle based on the symptom and they know what the customer needs to hear to feel comfortable. Craig Melquist is an outstanding and attentive service-minded sales person who puts the customer's interest at the top of his priorities. He listens to the customer's "needs & wants" before making a recommendation while most other dealerships I have visited are making recommendations based on what they want to sell, and not necessarily based on what I'm looking for. Transactions are very smooth and confidential, no questions are left unanswered. Trust me, I have lots and lots of questions. Craig is always very patient.
Tony Plesh is always outstanding in the service department. Always calls if problems are detected during routine service calls. The car is always ready for pick up at the set up time.

My Review Of Smythe Volvo :

I brought in my 2008 C30 for a "no-crank, no-start" condition, and turned out to be a failed electronic steering column lock. My warranty expired a little over a year ago along with 52,000 on the clock. I also mentioned that I was a little disheartened being that I just made my last car payment a month ago. I have been with them since the day I bought the C30 and all of it's maintenance and repairs were done solely by them. For me, their honesty and transparency easily earned my full trust that they will always do the right thing. So, even after moving to New York, 25 miles away with another Volvo dealer 5 miles from my house, I still brought my car all the way to Summit, NJ for servicing. And I am a firm believer that loyalty is a BIG Plus. According to Tony, Sean honored the warranty through Volvo Goodwill Policy because of my impeccable service history, solid rapport and unwavering loyalty with them. It really felt good and reassuring that I chose the right place for all my car needs. Every service visit or even a simple inquiring phone call, Sean, Tony, Doug, Tom, Gary, the entire service team genuinely want to provide customers 100% satisfaction consistently, all day...everyday! Thank you Smythe Volvo!

I am giving this rating because my recent purchase of a Volvo XC90 was so smooth and quick, I love the vehicle and I have been a customer at this dealership since 2008. The service on the prior vehicle was painless and they went to so much trouble to make sure I was well taken care of regarding any uncovered costs. There is no stress and everyone is incredibly polite.

My Review Of Smythe Volvo :

I recently had my car serviced at Smythe only to have it quit on my way home. Thankfully, the service department was still open when I called, although it was very close to 6pm. Thank you Tony and Sean (I think it was Sean?) for bringing me a loaner very quickly, and taking my car back to Smythe to have it checked after discovering a hose clamp that was not secure. You went above and beyond duty by coming out on a cold, dark night when your work day was over, when you could have just instructed me to have AAA tow it back. All is well that ends well, and it did here. I would have given a 5 for quality if it weren't for the hose clamp, although it was a minor issue. But your professionalism in dealing with it made all the difference and I will definitely be back.
