My Review of Albany Dodge Inc:
Our 2008 van broke down just as we were packing for Florida for the winter. Vince took good care of us. He found a new van that met just what we wanted, got a good trade price for the old one, and got us on the road. We had not been shopping to buy new, so it was important to be taken care of. He arranged for the repairmen to look at the old van the day after we we looked at a new one and before they would have otherwise checked it out to evaluate the worth of the trade in. He was particularly careful of the details as he knew we would be on the road and unable to stop back in for anything we left.
First the mechanic working on my trade in brought in an important electrical plug-in that I had forgotten. Then Vince went into the trade and moved my CD's and all my sunglasses that I had also forgotten and put them in the new vehicle. The CD's he put on the visor as I had done in the 2008. Nice. We had our music on the way. He made certain that the trailer hitch was attached to the new vehicle, so we could pack out our bikes. He reminded us to get the oil changed here in Florida and get a new filter. We did that at the dealership here. He just monitored all the details and took care of us.
The price might have been a bit cheaper in Florida. Dodge down here had NY eve specials that beat the Albany Dodge sticker price, but then we might not have been given such a good trade and we would have had to invest in repairs before we went and make it down here.
So, we are thrilled to have a new car and peace of mind.
Also, while we bought a more bare bones model this time, the new features balanced out anything we gave up. The dashboard is greatly improved. I showed my buddy down here (who also has a caravan) the new look and I think he now is ready to trade for a new van. He would not trade for the old dashboard. It is great for older people because the size of the numbers and the great lighting make it easy to read. Also, in some way the look of it reminds me of my old 1954 Dodge. I can't figure out the reason. It just feels very comfortable.
I use cruise control and placing it on the steering wheel was a great idea. So much better than those awkward sticks.
I was worried that the 3.6 engine would not perform as well as our 3.8 did, but it seemed to be fine, even packed up. Certainly better than the old 3.3, so it let us buy the bare bones.
I thought that I would miss the electric sliding doors, but Vince convinced me that the manual was better, and he was right. Too often those electric doors seemed to decide to open again just as they were shutting and while we were walking away. This is better. Very light to shut by hand and cheaper to repair.
I do miss being able to open the windows in the sliding doors.
I have always used my Pentagon Federal Credit Union for money to buy a car, but your bank gave us 1.84% interest, a bit less than the credit union and more convenient. I don't quite understand how a bank can make money at those rates, but I'm happy that they can. This recession sometimes works in our favor.
So Vince took two folks not really ready to buy new and gave them service and a deal too good to refuse. The only real problem is the guilt we have for bringing Vince in on New Year's Eve supposed to be a day off and long weekend, to make the sale. It was generous of Vince to do that since he had no assurance that we would buy that day. My trade needed to be looked at that morning and the numbers crunched.
And Vince has called us down here to see how we made out. Nice personal touch.
Great experience all around.
