I have a 2004 Honda Element that I took to Corwin Honda because my SRS light was on and I had read that that year had a LIFETIME warranty on the SRS system. Now, I’m not gonna lie, it took a couple months and just a twinge of Karen to convince them that I was serious about this— who cares about dash warning light on a 21 year old car?— but eventually I spoke with Taylor, who felt that even my old toaster with almost 260k miles deserved some love. They tracked down the new replacement part that was throwing the code, installed it, and everything was great… for about 80 miles. Of course, back I took it, and they ripped into it again! Traced the underlying electrical problem… and Honda doesn’t make replacement parts anymore. Also during that time Taylor (who I think was a Service Manager but not sure I ever learned her title) got promoted, and I was transferred to Service Manager Danny, Parts Manager Erik, and Service Tech Jason? Justin? (I never actually met the tech but I know he was the guy in the shop!) all worked together and worked with me to find parts from outside sources— which wasn’t easy, because even Honda’s source data was confusing and I think even conflicting in a few places. We eventually got it figured out, I bought the parts, and they installed them at a very reasonable cost. Oh, and they also did a great job of arranging rides for me when I couldn’t find someone to help me drop off or pick up! Can you believe it??\n\nI am not historically a fan of dealer service, and I have to be honest— I plan to drive this Element for another 250k miles (and thanks to Corwin Honda maybe I actually can!) but if/when I do decide to purchase a new car or I run into anything at all complicated with my beloved Toaster I will absolutely be on Corwin’s doorstep! I don’t know if they’ll be happy to see me or not… but I think either way they’ll do a really solid job and treat me very well.
