My 2012 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited was slightly out of the 3 yr/36,000 mile bumper to bumper warranty in December 2015 (by just a couple of months, only had 32k miles on it) when the heater quit working (a known issue with these Jeeps). At the time the dealership who was previously here told me I'd need to call Jeep to see if they'd help me out on it. After going round and round with them I got nowhere and nothing got fixed. The previous dealership told me that without Jeep agreeing to help there was nothing that they could do and never went back.
Fast forward to October 2017, (again, the same Jeep) was just barely out of the 5 year/100,000 miles powertrain warranty by just a couple of months (only 52k miles on it) when a check engine light came on. I did some research and found that it was a common problem with the left side cylinder head. I took it in to Allen Samuels who had purchased the dealership from the previous ownership group. I spoke to both Carol, the service writer, who was able to get it taken care of 199% by Jeep where it was indeed a known problem even though it was out of warranty at no cost to me.
While it was in the shop, I also asked if they could try and follow up on my previous heater claim (figuring that it was a long shot at best). Reba, the Service Department Manager, said that where it was such an old claim that she couldn't guarantee anything but that she'd contact her rep with Jeep to see what could be done.
Reba got back with me to say that while they wouldn't cover the heater 100%, they agreed to cover the vast majority of the repairs which ended up being a full heater core replacement, coolant flush and fill, and AC system recharge. The heater now works better than ever and I'll be a loyal customer for service on the Jeep for as long as I own it!
Everyone was polite, the communication was great, and they were very accommodating by getting me a loaner vehicle to use while both of these warranty repairs were being made. I would definitely recommend their services again, especially where it's a whole new ownership group who seem to truly care about the customer being satisfied and doing business the right way!
