I had 2 leased vehicles, but only for a few months with barely 1,000 miles on each. We had a family emergency that required that a trade for a vehicle that could pull a small trailer. After many visits, much conversation, and involving the General Manager, we were finally able to get the needed vehicle. Unfortunately, we ended up with monthly payments that were MORE than 2 previous payments combined. I understand that I was upside down on the lease end, but even with $5,000 down, you think you'd pay less, especially on a $32,000 (msrp) Escape! But desperation had it's day and we did get down the road. Sales person was personable, but let the manager work the sale.
