On Oct 4, my son lost his keys to his 2011 VW GTI. Called a locksmith and he rekeyed the car. Car started, drove a few feet and stalled. Locksmith tinkered with it but could not figure it out. The Called a locksmith and he rekeyed the car. Car started, drove a few feet and stalled. Locksmith tinkered with it but could not figure it out. The next day I called VW of Alamo Heights and asked if they could help diagnose and repair. Car ran perfectly before rekeying and had just undergone a serious overhaul. Advisor said this was a security issue due to using an after market key. Made perfect sense. They would order and program a new key. Tow truck driver confirmed car was dropped off and provided a name. Called that afternoon and they said my car did not arrive. I insisted it did and they said they would call me back. A few hours later they called and said they found it but the advisor had neglected to check the car in. They made me come in to order the key. Paid $400 for key and programming. A few days later, key arrived and they programmed. They called me to let me know the head mechanic said the instrument cluster needed to be replaced as the car went black. They said this was serious and the panel was not easy to find and may have been out of production due to year and model. Estimate of an additional approx $3k to start IF the panel could be found. They said they would call to let me know when it was located but advisor said this car was likely a total loss because the fix would likely exceed the value of the car. A few days later (2 weeks in) they reached out and asking if I was ready to pick up. I explained I had never heard back on whether or not the part was found. I had even texted the advisor and asked if I could find the panel myself, if they would install. Never heard back. So at this point, we decided to pick up the car and sell to a scrap yard for $500. We purchased a new car from a different dealer, and towed the VW home. The scrap dealer could not pick up for a week. My 18 year old, non-mechanic son needed to move the car and decided to research the issue. He opened the cluster panel that had not been re-secured and realized a wire was not connected. He connected the wire and the panel LIT UP. He grabbed the newly programmed key and the car started but immediately shut down. He grabbed the key the locksmith had made and the car started and he drove it around the block. The car runs like a dream and we almost scrapped it for $500! Their highly trained mechanics supposedly spent hours trying to diagnose the issue and my ZERO training, new high school graduate fixed an OBVIOUS issue in 5 minutes. I was forced to believe this was not repairable and had no choice but to buy another car based ON THEIR EXPERT recommendation. I called and spoke with the GM and he acted so unaffected by this situation and said he would review and call me back. At the end of the day I emailed him and asked if he forgot about me and a while later a service advisor called me and said a refund for the key would be offered. NO APOLOGY WAS EVER OFFERED by ANYONE! The GM had ZERO intention to call me back and passed me off to the same people who had already screwed me over. I insisted he call me back. He called and said he told his service team to call me that morning and assumed they did. Another failure. He had nothing to offer, got a little bit defensive and said he would think about how he could make this up to me and call me back. To this day I have never heard back from him. At this point, I now have a VW that runs perfectly AND another car I do NOT need but am STUCK paying for. They should have offered to buy the car back so I am not stuck paying for their COSTLY mistake. I also have to insure 2 vehicles now instead of one. This place is a joke and I urge you all to beware! I was also doing another service they advised me to get done. I ask them to honor the coupon based on the fact that I always service with them. They said that my car was never serviced there. Lairs and deceivers. On top of that rude. Take your cars to Ancira vw. They are very accommodating and NOT RUDE!! More

Scheduled appointments for oil and filter changed still had to wait an hour and a half. However the maintenance technician was professional and courteous! Questions were answered. As I entered service department I was immediately greeted and waited upon within minutes for check in. Checkin was easy and I wanted to wait for my vehicle instead of having them take me back home, which they offer as part of their service. ( very cool!!) My vehicle was ready in timely manner within two hours :) my service rep came to gather me up and check out which was efficient and professional. Okay so I did purchase my vehicle here and have all my work done here at VW of Alamo Heights because they are professional and friendly…. Not a robot! Cheers I’ll be back. More
Liar dealer! Shady practices and don’t value customers! Very bad experience with this dealer. I am a serious buyer and have been in the market for a specific car Shady practices and don’t value customers! Very bad experience with this dealer. I am a serious buyer and have been in the market for a specific car for about a month! I found a used car I wanted, asked about it and told them I’m going to buy the car this Saturday since I live in Houston. They wouldn’t accept a deposit, but wanted the full amount for the car in order to hold it for 2 days. Ridiculous. But told me I can call back the today Friday to give a deposit and they would hold the car for me for 24 hours. Yesterday Thursday went to my bank got approved for the loan, was good to go. This Friday morning called this dealer and put a deposit down. Told them I would be driving this morning (Friday) to get the car. Just as we are about to leave I call to confirm it’s still there and they’re telling me that someone else is there to buy it. So I talk to the new car manager (I don’t know why!) and he explains that they don’t take deposits on a Friday & Saturday - even though they took mine and I was about to leave to get it. This was never communicated to us, and they said the deposit would hold for 24 hours when we put it down. We made an agreement with the used car manager that he would hold the car for us. I guess he disappeared. The new car manager I assume said the deposit would have held if I was on the way which sounded like bs, I basically was on the way! Said I missed the car by 1 hour. His tone was condescending! Changed my work schedule to get this car and I was going to buy it for the full price and had my bank approval in my email! Will never buy a car from this dealer. They are liars and waste your time! I will go do business elsewhere with my excellent credit and fat bank account! More
