What Others Say

Terrible service now I have to drive to Indiana to get it fixed. Please call me there is so much more... From the service advisor Alicia Lucas to the techs to the warranty coordinator to the Service lead who says she is the same as a General store manager Emma are all Terrible. I have a Thor motorhome 2022 we use it 4-5 days a week, the first camping world in Richmond couldn't get me in for over 4 months per Thor they advised me to call this location and they were able to get me in within a week. I spoke to Alicia ahead of time and told her my situation she said she would put me in as a walk in and I could pickup my RV the same day if not next that was on 03/04/24 Monday I called on Tuesday 03/05/24 and Alicia was not available I then spoke to the manager Emma (terrible managing abilities) she informed me that the timeline Alicia set forth was impossible as they typically don't assign the techs for 5 days she said day 2 I was lucky to have a tech assigned. Now its obvious why RV repairs there take so long... they make a appointment to let your vehicle sit for 5 days why no maybe make the appointment for when your ready to service the vehicle. This was at 2:30PM Emma said she would push my RV to the front since I was fortunate enough to have the tech assigned to me and it would be ready in 2 hours at 4:30PM I told her that would be impossible to diagnose my multiple issues in 2 hours she insisted it wasn't impossible and could be done. I told here to take a extra day since they've had it for 2 days already and to have a tech look at it for 2 hours at the end of the day was unsatisfactory and not enough time. They kept it for another day I called as the end of the 3rd day was coming to an end and wanted to see if it was ready, she said its been ready since this morning and the tech said nothing was wrong with the A/C (I have been working with Thor since I am tech minded to try to fix w/o having to take in for service, this has had a problem with the inverter, lithium battery and alternator system installed during covid in lieu of gas generator) I told her the tech could not have tested it, Alicia told me usually when not rushed she would walk though the vehicle, I asked Alicia to go out and start the A/C she said she couldn't do that (even though she just said thats what she would usually do) I asked her to have a sales rep turn on the A/C to no avail. So on 03/07/24 my wife at 8:30AM took off work to go to the service to start the AC and what do you know the entire system crashed. They said they would put another tech on it (since the other one obviously never ran the ac off shore power to find that the problem still existed). We picked it up that night 03/07 after the new tech said it was only holding 13.5 volts which is not enough to run the AC and they would have to get the repairs approved. I was told it typically takes 7 days for approval which would have been 03/15/24 I got a email saying its still pending. I called Thor to see where it was on the 03/18/24 due to a vibe I had that Camping World was lying which imagine they were lying (not telling the truth, Emma wont accept that they lied and/or doesn't understand what lying is...not telling the truth). I was told by Thor that they only had two requests one pertaining to the AC which on 03/12/24 they reached out to Camping World to see if it was the Chassis battery or House battery (no response from Camping World) they told me the second issue with the awning motor was approved and the third item which was roof leak was never submitted (Alicia told me its maintenance but they were going to try to get it approved which was another lie since it wasn't submitted therefore it could've never been approved). Kristen at Thor who I spoke with was absolutely amazing to deal with and someone who actually understands customer service she told me that Camping World said they needed to sublet a lift as they didn't have one for my vehicle and we were both befuddled as to why they would

If I could steer anyone away from them simply for their customer service and service repair department I would. My unit was brought in, and the service department was told what I could see was wrong, not what they had to troubleshoot the cause to be. Fire. There was a short somewhere outside the unit in the tongue area. This caused the 7 way cable and the brake controller to melt and burn up. This also charred the propane tank that sat on the tongue. My unit was brought in July 27. I emailed asking if it would be complete prior to Labor day. The service advisor told me that we could get the trailer and use it, then bring it back when the parts were in to complete repairs. I asked if the BRAKE CONTROLLER and 7 WAY were replaced. The service advisor told me “sorry that they can let some people use their units while waiting on parts but because those items were not addressed, I would not be able to do that for safety reasons.” I was told that the parts were on order and should arrive September 6th. I emailed again asking if the parts had arrived and if the unit was repaired. I was told at that time of a new parts arrival time of the 12th of September. Around the 12th, I emailed back asking if the unit was complete and was told that the "service tech completed the repairs, however they found other issues." The other issues they "found" was the BRAKE CONTROLLER and the 7 WAY PLUG the unit was brought in for. I was told that the parts are on hand so it shouldn't take that long. HA I inquired about returning the unit to camping world, as I did not even have it for 30 days prior to the incident, and was told that they would only give me a fraction of what I paid. They have had the unit 3 times longer than I have. I understand waiting on parts and things like that, but at this point this is ridiculous. If you buy a unit from Camping World in Thornburg VA, I hope that you do not need any work done as you may never see the unit again until it is paid off.

This is the WORST dealership, especially Service. They have had our truck and camper for over two weeks, couldn’t communicate that it was ready/not ready, didn’t want to release it to us because they “didn’t have keys to the lot” yet magically when we said we could cut the lock to get our property they found some keys and released our property. They ordered airbags for our truck, which they assured us several times would work and help it ride better, demanded payment up front only to have the airbags not work and then they couldn’t decide if they were going to refund our money. Stacy in service has HORRIBLE customer service and doesn’t call or stay in contact when she promises to find out what is going on, management doesn’t care after they get your money and you leave their lot. They should just close the doors.

Ok so this is going to be a long review, but I encourage you to take the time to read it. At the end of June 2022, we walked into the Camping World of Thornburg solely because they had cheaper prices then dealers around the area. I too had read all the negative reviews and swore I would never purchase from them. But we were in a bind for personal reasons and needed to trade in our 2018 Wildwood. The salesman was nice and professional. We found a smaller Wildwood Xlite that was within our budget and since I had a good experience with my last Wildwood, I jumped on it. Camping World was more than fair on their offer value for my trade, and we went forward with the deal. During this time, our salesman quit for personal reasons, and we were bumped around a little bit, however, we were able to complete the purchase. During our walkthrough, we noticed a few minor things and they addressed it immediately. They even gave us a $100 store gift card because we weren't happy that WE missed the fact the bedroom didn't have a heater vent. We signed all the paperwork and pulled her home. If only we knew just what a nightmare that decision was going to be. Did you know there is no lemon law on campers? Well neither did we! DO NOT BUY a WILDWOOD built in 2022. I personally heard from someone who I will not name at Camping World that they have had nothing but problems after the sale with these Wildwoods. I don't know what the problem is but wow!!! I won’t go through the entire list of things wrong but just to give you an idea; we took it camping a week later and noticed the fridge wasn't cooling like it should, the AC was not cooling the bunkhouse at all, the awning was damaged, and the shower had a big leak onto the floor. We called the corporate office, because I had read reviews of how difficult Camping World in general can be with these types of issues. They were helpful and assigned me a case number and a case worker to assist us with resolution. They had us go back to the dealership where they addressed the issues, they could without having to order parts. They put in a request to order the parts and sent us on our way. The next weekend we camped again and found even more major issues with the camper!! We called corporate back and expressed our desire to trade it back in, drop it off and walk away. The next day, the sales manager called and asked us to come in to see if we could find another camper. When we came back in, we were told by the sales manager to look at a few campers he picked out and not to worry about the sticker price, they were going to make this right even at a loss to them. Well, the initial offer for the trade was $10,000 less then what we bought our camper for! We felt like we were being punished for buying a lemon from them. We only owned it for a month at this point and the amount financed on the camper we picked had increased almost $20,000. We were furious. Just know this, advocate for yourself. Don't go in there and scream and cuss. That's not going to get you anywhere. Trust me, we wanted to, but these are people who really do want to help. The sales manager really was trying to help but that was not going to cut it. We ended up meeting with the GM WHO WAS FANTASTIC! I felt like he was a straight shooter and was determined to turn this around and help us out. And help us out he did!!! We found a Crossroads Volante and fell in love with it. They shipped it from Ohio and spent extra time cleaning and prepping it because they did not want us to have another bad experience. From the sales lady to the sales manager, to the GM to the finance dept. They all went above and beyond to make sure we were taken care of and completely satisfied. Look RVs suck, they have a lot of problems from the Manufacturer. It’s not like these salesmen are knowingly selling lemon campers. Camping World has a bad reputation, and I can tell you, they are doing everything they can to turn that around. So yes, I would recommend giving them a chance. We love our new camper!

I can't say enough praise for Melanie and Mark in the parts department. I had some issues with some trim and some cushions that my dog damaged. They were both so helpful getting me the replacements I needed. They were very helpful and very easy to work with.

I would not recommend them at all. Poor customer service in the service department when you are put on a waiting list for them to look at your camper in April but will not be able to schedule it until September because being backed up.To me this is unacceptable. Especially when you bought the camper from them and they give all the bells and whistles fees more money you have too pay.You could say I’m very frustrated with this company. My suggestion for anyone looking for a camper go somewhere else and do your homework.
