My 2012 X5 35d hit 100,000 miles last week, and since it was built in September 2011, and is now all but 7 years old, and we are looking at taking it on a 4,000 mile vacation out west soon, I decided to take it to a nearby BMW dealer to have belts and hoses and filters and such looked at to insure that we didn't wind up beside the roadway half-way up some mountain and 200 miles from any wrench who'd ever seen a BMW before. Now I'd had it to my local dealer for the transmission service about 3,000 miles ago, and they did an oil change on me by surprise. Not impressed with their work, I'd chosen another dealer for this trip.
The dealer this morning got me in the day after I called, and back out 2 hours later, had the techs inspect things throughly under the instruction I was planning a trip, and the only thing they could find needing attention for which they could charge me was the flushing of the cooling system. Belts and hoses all looked pristine, filters happy, no codes or signs of distress anywhere. Unbidden and at no charge they topped off the DEF at no extra charge, and of course washed & vacuumed. No extra charge for the inspection, or so the invoice said. And while $300 to flush the cooling system is a bit steep, I guess the quick service at a BMW dealer (which we all know is expensive) was satisfactory. My having asked about belts and hoses in light of the car being 7 years old and having 100K on the ticker constituted a fine opportunity to screw me good, which they did not see fit to take.
So, herewith a shout out to Richmond BMW at Midlothian, VA. Your honesty is much appreciated.

Kudos to your superb Service department. Our 2017 Azera engine overheating and we're on vacation 336 miles from home. Service representative Helen Reedy accommadated us with an emergency appointment the following morning. The staff along with the help of Tom Shaw had us on the road in a day and a half. We were able to salvage the remainder of our trip with a loaner car they provided!
