Worthless warranty - worthless warranty
My 3500 HD Duramax was just about to go into limp mode and limit me to 35 MPH. Mills was the closest dealer. Got in and they got right on the diagnosis, failed DEF tank. NOT IN STOCK. Said they could have the parts Monday and this was Sat.
I had to rent a Dodge and get home as they didn't have a loaner. This repair was covered under the extended coverage so NO cost to me. Well not quite. A week later $500 poorer for the Dodge rental I headed back. This is a 12 hour round trip.
The service advisor said hold up. During final testing the fan shroud sucked into the radiator and did $1200 in damage.
Mills said it was not put back together correctly so the damage is on longboine Chevrolet that did the last repair just 500 miles into the 12month 12K mile earlier.
Mills would not release my vehicle without paying. So I did then went back to Longbine. They said they did not have the shroud apart and the repair goes back to the previous dealer that had the cab off.
Took my info to them and they said Longbine couldn't make the repair without having the shroud apart.
I went back to Longbine and the mechanic said now that he did have the cab off.
I called Chevrolet customer service. 4 months in and all three dealers are blaming each other but agree that it's nothing I did and should not have failed if properly reinstalled.
Chevrolet customer service says they can't do anything even though they say the warranty is on Chevrolet. BS, if I had a dime for every time CSS people said I'm sorry i could have paid the bill.
This is complete BS.
I have bought over 35 vehicles from Chevrolet since 1996 and this is the way they treat customers.

Not much to tell, Rob was great, everything went as planned, and they found and fixed the problem quickly. Engine light is now off and that makes my wife very happy.
