Worst Experience Ever (Buyer Beware) - JMA69
I purchased a 2015 Dodge Ram 2500 Diesel truck from sales associate Torin Ishler and have experienced the following from Dave Smith Motors and brought the vehicle California on 09-22-2018.
1. Was given a vehicle without the proper DMV tags when leaving the lot and the vehicle left Idaho illegally.
2. Was verbally told that a 120 point vehicle inspection had been performed, only have/find out the following drive that the check engine light came on during the drive and at this point has indicted that a Intake Heater Relay may be bad. As of now the truck has "run on" when the key/ignition is off. The pinyon seal was leaking and according to the local Dodge dealer had been for some time. The volume knob on the radio does not work correctly and the entire radio unit has to be replaced. There is no owners manual in the glove box for the truck. I never received a copy of the 120 point inspection or who performed it.
3. I was sold what I was told was a "Bumper to Bumper" warranty which I have now found out by the warranty company that they do not sell "bumper to bumper" warranties and they (Warranty Solutions) consider this act fraudulent act and false claims by a company which they took on record. The warranty people have informed me that after the warranty sale, I was to receive a 7-page document of my warranty. I have yet to see this 7-page document. When taking the truck into to the local Dodge dealership and tried to use the warranty, nothing was recognized with the warranty with the exception of the pinyon seal which Dodge covered. The sales person assured me that the warranty would cover all the issues which it has not.
4. I am not certain that the DEF tank is working and it may be part of this overall problem and the local Dodge dealership is looking into this issue as well.
The salesperson apologized for the lack of proper DMV tags and sent them overnight, but has been transparent since the sale with the other issues. I have attempted to make a call and e-mail to the Sales Manager Scott Johnson and a phone call to the Customer Service manager and have yet to hear from either of them.
This purchase was the biggest ever made for me and my business and was told by many people who have purchased from Dave Smith that I would save a lot of money and that I would be happy with the service.
This has been the worst decision ever made to buy from Dave Smith Motors and trust the integrity of the people who work there and it is more than apparent that when a sale is made that they do not stand by their products in which they sale.

I bought a 2013 Yukon Denali from Carl back in March. When I initially took the car for a test drive, I noticed there was a message on the dash saying that a rear tire was low. Before purchasing the vehicle, I asked Carl to have the tire/wheel checked out to make sure there was no problem with it and told him that was not something I wanted to replace after driving it off the lot. He took it into the shop and came back moments later saying that it just "needed a little air" and everything was fine. I went ahead and purchased the vehicle along with a full warranty to the tune of $3000 (that was just the warranty). After a month or so things went south, the stitching on the leather arm rests started popping off, the drivers door handle completley popped off, the third row seat needed to be fixed so it would pop up, and the icing on the cake was the wheels. Each tire would slowly lose air, I took it into Schwabs and it took them one look to realize that the wheels were in fact deteriorating and it needed 4 new wheels, funny how they couldn't figure that one out at Knudsen even when I SPECIFICALLY asked. Next my check engine light came on, that was the final straw for me so I called Knudsen and set up an appointment and also left a message with Carl explaining how unhappy I was. I felt like this car was super glued together to get it sold. Carl never called me back. I took my car in at 9:30am and when I heard nothing, I called at 3:30pm to ask if they had gotten the car in to check it out. The shop guy told me they hadn't gotten it in but would go check and call me back within the hour. He called me back about 4/4:15 and to my relief it was the gas cap that had set off the sensor for the check engine light, it wasn't screwed in all the way, GOOD NEWS??? When I got there to pick my vehicle they handed me a bill for $110!!! I was confused until the guy I was dealing with explained to me that he had to pay his technician to diagnose my car, my confusion turned to complete disbelief and anger..... Did you know you can go to AutoZone and they will plug your car in and diagnose it for free? But not at the dealership where you spend over $30k, oh and the warranty didn't cover that either. They didn't even have it for an hour!!!!! I called back the next day and asked to be transferred to a manager, I spoke with a different gentleman and he apologized and told me that at Knudsen they really do care about their customers and he seemed as stumped as I was about the $110 charge. I was told he would do some "homework" and get back to me that evening or the next morning.... NO ONE EVER CALLED ME BACK, so here I am writing the first and only online review I have ever written. I too own a business and NEVER have I treated a customer this way. I would have more respect for these people if they called me back and told me to kick rocks, but how cowardly that I can't even get a phone call. I've bought cars here before and to say I am disappointed is an understatement. I will never be back and I will tell everyone I know to never buy a car from this dealership.
