I’m writing to share my recent experience with the service department at Downtown Ford, which left me concerned about their diagnostic practices and customer care.
I brought in my Ford F-150 due to a check engine light and explained that the issue felt very similar to a problem I had several years ago, which had been resolved by replacing a fuel injector. After their inspection, they diagnosed a faulty fuel pressure sensor and quoted me a high price to replace it.
Something didn’t feel right, so I decided to get a second opinion. The second mechanic quickly determined that the issue was indeed the fuel injector — exactly what I had originally mentioned. They fixed it promptly and at a much lower cost than what Downtown Ford was charging for the incorrect repair.
I’m relieved I trusted my instincts and avoided unnecessary repairs and expenses. However, this situation could have easily cost me hundreds of dollars for a fix that wouldn’t have addressed the real problem. I believe customers should be able to trust that a certified dealership service center will conduct accurate diagnostics and take customer input seriously.
I’m sharing this to help others who may be considering Downtown Ford for repairs. Always get a second opinion if something doesn’t seem right. I also hope this feedback encourages the dealership to improve diagnostic accuracy and communication with customers.
