Bought a used car that now smells like cigarette smoke. It did not have a car manual and was told after we got home there is nothing they can do to help. Not a bad experience, but about what I expected from a car dealership. More info: I am happy to discuss a bit more. Seems like we bought a car that was masked from a previous smoker, but maybe we were too tired on the day of purchase to notice, or maybe the cleaning agents wore off. I'm not sure. Then a "maintenance required" light came on a week after we brought the car home and I wanted to understand what that was for, so I went to the manual - but there was none. I was told to get the information online, but I don't want to have to rely on an online manual when I need help on side of road someday. I just spent $35k on a car, but I need to go to eBay to find the manual? Kind of frustrating. Lastly, when negotiating the price of the car, I was open to trading in our car, but we were lowballed so insultingly at the first offer, but from that point on, the only negotiating power they gave was increasing the trade-in cost to a reasonable number (which was still about $1k-2k lower than what I strongly believe I could have sold for myself). So, I did not get any "deal" on the car we purchased that left me feeling like I couldn't have got the same price elsewhere. I paid what you were asking for it, which I don't know if that was transparent or not, but at this late in the evening, I was just ready to be done shopping... So anyways, like I said, It was about what I expect from a car dealership. You have to make money too. I get it, but it was not some knock me out of the park experience that left me eager to tell our friends about. The folks working there were very hard working and eager to please. More
