I bought a 2018 Dodge Journey in late July. With this purchase came an “IOU” because the car was pulling to the right and also had a skip when in the motor when driving. I was able to arrange a time to bring my car in for a diagnosis about a week after purchasing. After dropping it off I received a call that the motor mount needed to be replaced and that they would have to order a replacement part but that it was safe to drive and I could pick it up and they would call when the part came in. The alignment wasn’t done and said all repairs would be done the same day. After a few days I called to see if we could get the alignment done without waiting on the other parts. The pull to the right was so sever it was hurting my shoulder/arm to have to steer straight. It was most definitely a safety hazard. I didn’t think an alignment would be so difficult to get done when I purchased the car. Off lease agreed I could bring in to get the alignment and they would check status of the parts and if they came in would do everything that day. Parts came in, alignment was done. I was called to come get the car. Upon picking up my vehicle this time from service the skip in the motor was gone, but the pull was still there slightly less sever but still very noticeable. I called back and advised of this. I was told I could bring the car back the next morning and they would look at it. I brought the car back and upon inspection they realized I needed a new rack/pinion and tire rods (inner and outer). So they called to advice they would need to order parts and the woman I spoke with advised if it were her car she would not drive it until these things were replaced so I told them to keep it until fixed and then I’d pick it up. The had the car a full week. After picking up my car for what I thought was the final time, the pull to the right was still there. When I called I was told to go through my extended warranty, but there is a deductible and I don’t feel I should have to pay when this is the same issue we’ve been dealing with and I was told it would be fixed prior to purchasing. So then I was advised to seek a second opinion because the service department at off lease was telling the managers my car was fine, no pull. I took it the very next day to a mechanic shop and had it looked at. They advised the alignment was “way off”. Had this been addressed and fixed the first time I took my car in for service, off lease wouldn’t have even had to do half the repairs the did. I have reached out a few times to provide off lease with my second opinion and receipts for reimbursement of the alignment that was done and solved all the issues. It has been almost 2 months since I purchased this car and I am finally able to enjoy it and not worry about my safety while driving it.
