We test drove a vehicle we saw online, on a Friday around 6pm. we liked it and indicated we were coming back on Monday to complete the transaction. They set us up for an appointment at 6pm Monday. Saturday morning, I get a call from sales, stating someone is trying to buy the vehicle at Carvana. Salesperson and her boss stated they would hold the vehicle only if I signed a financing contract with them. I told them that I already have financing lined up. They would not hold the car. It was such a hassle buying from them. Why they would not hold a vehicle for 48 hours when a customer has indicated their interest, is beyond me. They could always release the car back to the public view if the customer does not return as promised. 48 hours as a show of good faith in a very competitive business, would have been a good way to earn a loyal customer base. We returned to Carmax, where the car-buying experience is always pleasant, no hassling to sign extra papers just for a car hold. This would be our 4th vehicle from CarMax. That is how to build a customer base.
