What Others Say

CarMax Murrieta is a very professional and customer-focused dealership. I bought one of my first cars and was helped by Bruce. He was very kind and patient with me, and gave me tips on what the best options were to avoid paying too much. Obviously there is no haggling, which is great, but it still felt like Bruce went the extra mile to help me feel confident in my choice of a car. I also had to make a few changes after the first car had problems, and Bruce was more than happy to oblige me by helping get a new car picked out, comparing the prices of the two, setting up a loaner car, and getting an extended warranty put on. I’m very happy with this location and Bruce especially after having been made exceptions and getting the full truth about each car I looked at.

We wanted a Honda ridgeline but the store didn’t have any. We were able to transfer 3 to the store to test drive. We really like that feature that carmax has. We found our dream truck!

I think the most frustrating part of this entire experience has been the unnecessary amount of time wasted. This is the fourth vehicle I’ve purchased from CarMax, the fifth if you include my wife’s, and I’ve continued to return because I expected a smoother, more efficient process. I paid to have a 2024 Ford Lightning Flash shipped from Colorado and made it very clear from day one that I had my own financing. I also scheduled a specific time to come in and complete the paperwork. Unfortunately, that information was somehow misunderstood, and the salesperson made an error with my financing paperwork. As a result, I had to leave and return the following day. To make matters worse, when I came back the next day to pick up the vehicle, I was informed that the appraisal for the vehicle I was selling had expired, causing even more delays before the transaction could be finalized. I absolutely detest the unnecessary waiting that often comes with buying a used vehicle. There is already a natural level of distrust associated with the process because delays are frequently used as part of negotiation tactics, and that is exactly what I try to avoid. That is why I chose CarMax. That is why I came in with my own financing. Yet somehow, I still ended up spending hours waiting. Waiting for paperwork to be redone that should have been completed correctly the first time. Waiting to pick up a vehicle that should have already been ready. Dealing with unnecessary delays and the uncomfortable frustration that comes with them. These delays also caused me to be late for other commitments, including coordinating with my electrician to install charging equipment that, surprisingly, did not come with the vehicle. While I understand a charging cable may not technically be required for an electric vehicle, it feels like something that should be included, much like a spare tire. What made the situation even more frustrating was that after sitting in the waiting area for nearly two hours, I finally got up to check with the registration department myself, only to find that my paperwork had apparently been set aside and forgotten. Then, while finishing everything up, the associate assisting me realized that something still had not been fully submitted by the original salesperson. In the end, yes, the purchase was completed. But it took entirely too long, required multiple trips, and became a much larger headache than it ever should have been. Buying a vehicle should be an exciting experience. Unfortunately, this experience was overshadowed by repeated missteps, poor execution, and a lack of attention to detail. I am genuinely disappointed, and based on this experience, I will likely not use CarMax for my next vehicle purchase.

This is a terrible company they do not return calls, there customer service is very bad.. The two cars I've bought had lots of problems, & they do not fix, they put a bandage on them. As It is i would NOT RECOMMEND You're company to anyone.

They were wonderful! Very kind and patient. They helped me get a car that is perfect for me, as well as helping me through all the tough paperwork and rates. I'd 10/10 recommend and come back for a future purchase

As car purchases go this was a good experience, but the dealership was crowded, and as usual the transaction took time (almost 4 hours totsl).
