We purchased a new Genesis top of the line vehicle. Genesis has the persona of a white glove service to it's customers but our experience was sub par when it came to finishing our deal. The sales rep was good and we agreed on a price. Then he handed it over to the GM to finish with the paperwork and financing. This is when it all went down hill. They said our personal checks did not go through their system so they would not honor it. The GM said we must finance through them to get the deal on the vehicle even though we had a check for a great rate of financing (4.98%) yet their best was (8.99%). We had to finance an additional $10,000 because they would not accept our check and had to pay a credit card fee because they would only take the credit card at that point.Which is absurd! We were at the dealer for over 5 hours. We agreed on the price by 3pm then the rest was with the GM and financing. We didn't leave until almost 8pm at night and they were well aware we still had a long drive home. For whatever reason, the GM is the only person to finish your paperwork and because he is the GM of the 4 dealerships, he had a number of other people in front of us. We were the only ones waiting in the Genesis dealership. We did not have to wait like this at any other dealership including BMW and I will say be careful if you choose to purchase from them. They do not treat you with white gloves as Genesis has assured you they would. I told the GM that the wait time was not acceptable. They had taken a down payment from us via credit card hours before so we were stuck waiting. He provided some excuses. Stated he only started working with us 2 hours before which again was not correct. I've also sent a complaint to Genesis themselves as they need to know what the dealers are doing who represent them. I am so unhappy that we would have walked away from the deal but they had already taken our down payment so we were stuck. Be cautious and careful when dealing with them. They own most of the car dealerships on the island and I don't know if this is just a representation of this dealership or all of the ones owned under these franchised.
