I am writing to formally express my extreme dissatisfaction with the treatment my son-in-law and I received yesterday while visiting your dealership to have his 2024 Nissan Sentra serviced. Our intention was twofold: I planned to look at purchasing a new Nissan Titan while my son-in-law had his vehicle’s Bluetooth connectivity issue evaluated. Unfortunately, our experience with your service advisor, Rebecca, was deeply disappointing and unacceptable. From the beginning of the interaction, Rebecca was dismissive, impatient, and condescending while we attempted to explain the issue. She repeatedly implied that because the vehicle was purchased at DriveTime, it was likely “tampered with,” referring to it as a “mom and pop store.” The vehicle has only 8,000 miles on it. Her insinuations were inappropriate and unprofessional. She informed us there would be a $150 diagnostic fee because “the guys have to be paid for their time” and insisted the issue likely would not be covered under warranty due to where the vehicle was purchased. When I stated that if it were a manufacturer defect it should be covered, she responded by saying, “Yes, but people don’t usually bring a car in because of a Bluetooth defect.” She further emphasized multiple times that she had “been doing this for 35 years” and knew what she was talking about. Rather than listening or offering solutions, she repeatedly suggested the issue was probably related to my son-in-law’s phone and that he should contact his cell phone provider. When I asked about loaner or rental options, she stated, “Yeah, you can rent one for $45 a day,” in a tone that was far from customer-focused. Regardless of the ultimate cause of the vehicle issue, the manner in which we were treated was completely unacceptable. I have never experienced such condescension and disrespect in what is supposed to be a customer-first environment. Because of this interaction, I left with serious doubts about ever doing business with your dealership. We plan to return to speak with Eric, whom we originally spoke with over the phone. However, Rebecca even responded to that by saying, “Go ahead, speak to him—he’s going to tell you the same things.” I understand that everyone can have an off day, but there is no excuse for speaking to customers in such a dismissive and disrespectful manner.
