What Others Say

Stay far away from them. We bought a beautiful low mileage truck with dash lights that they told us was a sensor issue. When we got it checked out, they were shocked we could even drive it the 2 hours home. The struts were cracked, the whole drivetrain was barely even on, and we've spent more on repairs than we paid for it. It's still having issues and we have gotten into serious debt because of this purchase. Don't waste your money here!

This dealership is going to show you every stunt in the sketchy used car dealer stunt book. They just are. I bought 2 vehicles there, in 2007 and 2013, tried out the service department a few times, and went shopping for a 3rd vehicle this week, before I finally had enough. I left there feeling sick to my stomach after nearly every transaction, encountering outright dishonesty more often than not. Why did I keep going there? I guess because I live so close to the dealership, and hoped that it would get better. I also thought that all used car dealerships were probably essentially the same. Negotiations: classic bait and switch: salesperson says we are a wholesale dealer (which is ludicrous---they are obviously not "wholesaling" used cars to the public), so we can't wiggle on the sales price of the car, but you are going to get more value out of your trade-in. Fast forward to conversation about trade-in, and manager tells you we are a wholesale dealer so we can't offer much for your trade-in. Magically, they will offer you exactly what you owe. But the hilarious thing is, THE CAR WOULD NOT EVEN START. That's right, a car, priced at just under $20k, with a big **AS IS---NO WARRANTY** sign in the window, would not even start!! The salesman went to get the car, and when he did not return for close to half an hour, we went looking for him, and that is when we were told that "we were moving cars around on the lot last night, and we must have left the headlights on." Except, they were not even able to jump start this car, we watched them try. And, this car has automatic headlights that turn off when the car is off, so how did that happen? Hmm. In the 3 hours that we were at the dealership, they did not get the car running, so we never test drove it, they lowballed me on my trade-in (and when I balked at their quote the sales manager Mathew Syria asked me if I would like to see "what people are actually paying for these cars" and in true Sonju form, printed out a list of auction sales prices, not retail). He had essentially the same car on his lot, one year older than mine, marked up almost $5,000 over what he was offering me. We left at that point, with the salesman and the manager in full good cop/ bad cop theatrics. But it was all for the best, because I ended up buying essentially the same car, with 40k fewer miles, at another dealer 2 days later. I got what I asked (2 K more than Sonju offered) for my trade-in, and I was treated fairly and honestly. This dealership has a bad reputation among many locals, for good reason.

Don't buy an ATV from them. They are clueless! Communication is horrible and they do not back up their product. Took them three months to fix mine. Charged me $2000 and it was still under warranty. Buyer beware!!!

Purchased our vehicle here and have used the shop for all major repairs (anything but oil changes). Dealership is 50 miles from home. Was in Two Harbors and the vehicle died. Called shop for assistance and they REFUSED to help. Would not look at car, provide a loaner car, would not offer a tow even! Service manager made it very clear that he was not going to help. Will never do any business with this establisment again. They do not give a xxxx about customer loyalty or your business.

Just purchased a Silverado Truck at Sonju Two Harbors . The whole experience was great. My sales person Nelson Chatfield was informative , polite, professional and just a pleasure to deal with. My finance person Scott Seagren was a gem trying to secure the best interests rate that he possibly could. All in all a great group of guys great organization. This is the second vehicle that I've purchased at Sonju and I highly recommend them. I actually had contacted another dealer down in the Cities to check on the best possible deal and Sonju was able to match the numbers that I was given down in the Cities.

I was extremely happy with the service at Sonju. Both our salesmen Phil and the guys from the finance dept explained everything we did simply and easy to understand. Also, I have been at dealerships before and had a person say it will just be a few minutes and 30 minutes later I had to get up and hunt down our salesman. At Sonju, if Phil said it would be about 5 minutes it was, and if it was going to take a little longer he was there in 5 to let us know. Great job guys!
