What Others Say

Used vehicle purchased 12/26 & 3 issues ON SAME DAY drive home: engine, tire, and electronic. Dealer Refused to Stand Behind Vehicle. I had been searching for the right Ford Expedition for my family of seven and chose Coad Toyota based on their reputation, the vehicle description, and the confidence inspired by their “Why Buy From Coad” promises. This vehicle was intended to be a Christmas gift for my family. I flew in from Minneapolis, completed a walkthrough, paid cash, and drove home trusting the dealership’s inspection and certification standards. That trust was misplaced. On the same day I drove off the lot, three separate issues surfaced: 1. Incorrect tire size installed (245 width instead of the required 285) 2. A serious engine rattle/ticking that began during the drive home 3. Rear-seat entertainment system not functioning, despite being listed as a vehicle feature To their credit, management acknowledged the incorrect tires and reimbursed me for replacement. Unfortunately, that was the extent of their accountability. The engine issue—which began the same day of purchase—was diagnosed by a Ford dealership in Minneapolis as a VCT cam phaser failure, a serious engine defect that can lead to catastrophic engine failure if left unaddressed. I provided video evidence and paid for the inspection out of pocket. Additionally, the rear-seat entertainment system was explicitly listed as a feature of the vehicle. Ensuring that listed features function as advertised should be a basic part of any dealership’s inspection process. Discovering that it does not work only further calls into question the thoroughness of the vehicle’s inspection. Despite the issue presenting immediately after purchase, I was told by management that because the vehicle was sold “as-is,” the dealership would not assist in any way with the engine repair. The General Manager, Jason Miller, ultimately characterized it as “bad luck” and refused to escalate the matter to ownership. What is most disappointing is not the existence of a mechanical issue, but the complete lack of willingness to do the right thing. Even acknowledging the “as-is” nature of the sale, a reputable dealership should at least make a good-faith effort to assist when a serious engine defect appears the same day the vehicle is sold—especially one that contradicts their own inspection and certification claims. This response is especially concerning given that Coad Toyota’s website states that their used vehicles undergo a rigorous inspection process meant to provide customers “peace of mind.” A major engine defect and non-functioning listed features surfacing the same day of purchase directly contradict that claim. As a U.S. Army veteran, I value integrity and accountability. I fully understand what “as-is” means—but I also believe reputable dealerships stand behind their vehicles and customers when problems arise immediately after sale. In this case, once the sale was completed, customer support effectively ended. If you are considering purchasing a used vehicle here, understand that any post-sale issues—even same-day engine failures or non-working listed features—will be treated no differently than if you bought from a private seller. I cannot recommend trusting the “Why Buy From Coad” promise based on my experience.

#coadtoyotapaducah,ky I took my 2012 Toyota Tundra into Coad Toyota in Paducah, Ky on September 4th to get valve cover gaskets changed on left side of engine and spark plugs replaced because I had a miss fire on cylinder 6. Was also scheduled to get transmission flush. I was told 1.4 hours for valve cover change and 45 minutes for transmission flush. Appointment was scheduled for 11:45am I arrived at 10:45. After technician got started I got a phone call from Dalen saying the other side needs changed as well. Telling me it would be another 1.5 hours and 180.00 dollars. I gave him the ok to go ahead and fix. So after waiting 6 hours for a 4 hour job. Dalen came and said technician didn't recommend changing transmission fluid. But I have been carrying my truck to this dealership for the last seven to eight years for oil change. It was put in my notes to have transmission flush done. So after seven hours of waiting and being after five o'clock and lights being turned out they brought my truck around for me to leave my truck was running Worse than when I brought it in. After a 45 minute confrontation with Dan the service manager. He said there wasn't nothing he could do because the technician had left and he couldn't give me any kind of vehicle to send me home in. I stopped at 2 different auto part stores and they both said I miss fire on cylinder 8. I got home to find cylinder 8 had not been plugged in an was trapped behind coil and vacuum hose not hooked along with many other things that pictures will show. They sent wrecker to pick up my truck on September 5th. They hooked up all lose parts and truck still wasn't running correctly. Said I needed 2 new coils which wasn't bad before I went in. They wouldn't cover cost or even split cost with me. I contacted Toyota Corporations and filed report. Didn't get any help. So I gave the go ahead and fix. Another 572.00 on top of the 515.00 I had already spent. Dan the service manager called me on September 20th bragging how great the truck was running. So I went to pick it up on September 21. I looked over engine to make sure everything was put back together. Get in truck cranked it and let it run for a few minutes and check engine light came back on. Needless to say I was HOT. Went back in dealership Zachary the service guy was no help. Trentin stepped in and helped me out. He managed to get me a loaner. Dan emailed me on September 24th wasn't man enough to call and let me know what was going on. Wanted to charge me another 1382.76 for 6 more coils and still wouldn't guarantee it would fix the problem. So I talked to JJ Coad the owner hoping to get some help. She called back saying technician told her valve cover gasket was put in up side down before and none of this was there fault. JJ Coad asked when I could return her truck I told September 30th. She said no the F*** I'm not I'm going to bring her F*** truck back today. She said I have dealt with people like for 30 F*** years. Several other F*** bombs. And was going to report her truck stolen if I didn't return by 530pm on September 27th. And I don't never need to come back to her F*** dealership. NEVER USE COAD TOYOTA PADUCAH, KY FOR ANYTHING.

We were going to buy a 4runner from this dealer. The vehicle came in on a monday and they let us know it was on the lot. My wife at first said she couldnt make it to the lot for a couple of days and they said they would hold it. I called back an hour later and said she would be able to come the next day. We were informed that it had just been sold. They lied to us. Needless to say we werent happy! On the bright side though, we found one just like it and paid $2000 less and got more for our trade in. Thanks for nothing Coad Toyota of Paducah!

My salesperson, Maria Moore, was a delight to deal with. I went through Toyota Smartpath and the whole process was hassle free. First time using this dealership, but it certainly won’t be the last. We were made to feel appreciated and respected by the entire staff. Thank you.
