Bottom line up front: Expect the bare minimum required by contract or law with sub par customer service. Poor experience with DARCARS in Lanham, Maryland and with national Ford Customer Service. Background: I brought my Ford in for transmissions problems covered by extended warranty. The service department did not correctly diagnose all the issues on the first or even second try. On the third try they finally fixed the transmission. I was not provided a loner and only received the bare minimum required rental assistance of 10 days, even though they had my car for 6 weeks (Ford logistics couldn’t move parts quickly), through Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Years. To top it off, I had to move to my new work assignment in Florida while they still had my car. I had to fly back 2 weeks after moving to pick up my car and drive it back down. I’m a single car household so I had to get a rental for the majority of this time…I’m out a few thousand extra dollars in rental fees and flights now because their service department couldn’t fix my car on the first or even second try. And to top it off, even to get the $350 for the 10 days of rental assistance it took them two and a half months to get that to me. I wasn’t expecting 100% coverage of these expenses, but even an attempt at extra coverage would have shown some ownership for their service quality and some compassion/empathy for my situation. I have been a lifelong Ford owner and now I’m questioning why I would want to continue to do business with this organization at any level.
DARCARS has turned what should have been a routine warranty matter into a masterclass in chaos, incompetence, and customer neglect. Their service desk seems unable to manage paperwork, communicate updates, or perform the most basic administrative tasks without making the customer pay for it—literally. In December 2025, I was forced to rent a car because of Ford warranty issues and because DARCARS refused to provide a loaner vehicle. Conveniently, the rental option they offered was $80 per day, just high enough to exceed Ford’s $60-per-day reimbursement cap. That kind of pricing raises obvious questions. To date, I am still $300 out of pocket because DARCARS lost my rental receipts, then somehow failed to process them even after I submitted them again. After seven separate follow-ups, they still cannot—or will not—file the paperwork properly. At some point, “mistake” stops being a believable excuse. From where I stand, this looks like deliberate obstruction dressed up as incompetence. Whether it is retaliation for securing my own rental instead of theirs or simply a breathtaking level of dysfunction, the result is the same: the customer gets burned while DARCARS plays dumb.
Please beware of this dealership. I will not be coming back here ever. This experience actually makes me want to trade my vehicle in. I had my MachE towed into the dealership (on the morning of 12/16) for a punctured tire. It took three days a several phones calls for them to partially complete the job (the evening of 12/18). Throughout the duration of the wait, I had to reach out to the service representative (Bryanna) instead of her contacting me. It often took several hours to a day before she responded. She only increased response when I expressed that I would be stopping by to speak to a manager. The dealership attempted to charge me $400 for the tire after I explained several times that I have a tire warranty. They also attempted to charge me for a new tire sensor ($120). The sensor was fully functional when the car was towed to the dealership. They indicated in the notes that it was broken in efforts of removing the tire. I asked to speak to a manager (which didn’t help at all). I don’t understand why I was being charged for the dealership’s error? #Verydissapointedcustomer
Today this companies Manager Tyler renewed my faith in humanity. He rectified my issue in a matter of minutes helping the little guys. I want to personally thank him for how he helped myself today. I would highly recommend if you have any issues to reach out to him. Thank you and kudos. Recommended for service thank you Darcars Ford.
I was scheduled for an interview today and wasn’t told until 45 minutes later that the dealership was running late. I took my time and energy to be there as requested and no one let me know about the lateness of the appointment until I inquired and left. I am no longer interested in the position or I will not be giving my business to an establishment that does not have their customer service department in good standing.
Abraham at Darcas Ford Lanham was exceptional! They were patient, and transparent throughout the entire car-buying process. I appreciated their willingness to answer all my questions and help me find the perfect car. Highly recommend!"
