What Others Say

10:30 appointment to rotate/balance 4 tires. 11:15 and my car is on the lift, tires removed, no progress from there. Cost quoted at $88.00 for the complete service. Rotate/Balance is a 45 minute job at best. Add 15 minutes for surprises, & the dealer is still not even close to finished. This dealer service level & price point is abysmal. This is not a dealership I would ever recommend.

I’m seriously concerned about my recent service experience at Modern Nissan of Winston-Salem. Our 2020 Nissan Rogue broke down and was towed in on 6/17/25. Frank Calderon quoted $712.95 to replace a mass airflow sensor, with an inflated part price of $377—significantly higher than Nissan’s official MSRP of $326 (which was on sale for $225). When I questioned this, Frank adjusted the total quote to $637.80, but still tried charging a diagnostic fee he initially said would be waived. Only after I requested did he remove this fee, bringing the final total down to $557.53—saving $155 just by questioning the charges. This isn’t a discount; it’s proof of intentional overcharging. Had I not been vigilant, Modern Nissan would have happily taken advantage of me. Frank even mentioned this issue was common, yet the repair took nearly a full week. This predatory experience ensures I will not return, and I caution others to approach dealings here carefully. UPDATE: Shortly after posting this review, the service manager called to “hear my side,” offering explanations about unclear policies and claiming extra unpaid labor—none of which addressed my concerns or made practical sense to me. He asked how to make it right but offered no solutions, shifting responsibility back to me. Hours later that Thursday afternoon, our check engine light came back on. We returned, providing them a chance to redeem themselves. Instead, they delayed service again not even looking at the car until after 130 Friday, offered no loaner, and poorly communicated timing- told them I’d be nearby at 5, they said it’d be ready Saturday, but at 530 call and say it’s ready. The newly installed sensor was faulty and replaced under warranty—as it should be, not as a favor like they tried to make it sound. This experience reinforced my disappointment and frustration.

I recently had an extremely disappointing experience with Modern Nissan of Winston-Salem’s service department. My truck was in their care for one week and one day, supposedly waiting on parts. I was assured multiple times that my vehicle was “next in line” for repairs. However, on the day I picked it up, I was shocked to learn that not a single thing had been done to it. To make matters worse, I was able to take my truck to a highly reputable repair shop that completed the work in just one day—at half the price Modern Nissan quoted me. This proves that the delay and high cost were not justifiable. Unfortunately, this is not the first time I’ve had a negative experience with the Modern Automotive network. Given their lack of transparency, poor communication, and failure to follow through on their commitments, I cannot recommend Modern Nissan of Winston-Salem to anyone. If you're looking for reliable service and fair pricing, I strongly suggest finding another dealership or repair shop that values its customers

Very Professional Service with Salesman Jimmy Ballew. I did not feel pressured on a sale. I feel comfortable with my purchase and very confidant that I’ve made the right choice.

Great customer service! No complaints. Really enjoyed the experience and new car! Jimmy Ballew was Awesome!
