My Review of John L Sullivan Chevrolet:
The experience at John L. Sulivan Chevrolet was one of the worst I have experienced. My husband and I have purchased 11 cars in the past 30 years from various dealerships. I have never experienced such a high level of distrust and ineptness in responding to customer needs. After several attempts to explain what our bottom line was, they consistently came back to us with one bad offer after another. Interestingly enough they seemed to miraculously fine new discounts and rebates and call in "special" favors each time they returned to give us another unacceptable offer. We were not purchasing one of the dealerships low end vehicles. We were purchasing a $53,000 Silverado Diesel. Our credit rating was very good and they could still not find an acceptable interest rate. Every time they offered a better interest rate, the special discounts and rebates seemed to become unavailable. We did end up purchasing the vehicle after much haggling, however, I will not recommend John L. Sullivan to friends and family and will discourage anyone I know from dealing with their un-customer friendly environment.

My Review of John L Sullivan Chevrolet:
I am from out of state and found a used Pontiac on their website. I contacted their Internet Sales Dept. and was told to fill out a preapproval which I did that very morning. We corresponded all day and last e-mail I got from them was at 4 pm telling me they were still waiting for the approval but when it did come back when would I be able to come down to the dealership. I told them I could come the next day. The next morning I received another e-mail telling me that they were still waiting for word from the bank and they had sold the car that I was trying to get financed. I was never told that I needed to physically be there for them to hold the car, nor was I given the option of putting a deposit on the car. Typical used car salesmen.

My Review of John L Sullivan Chevrolet:
I asked for a price on a new car on the lot that I liked. Response: "It's on the window" (MSRP + high dealer markup). I asked for their lowest best price, but I had to put up being grilled by 3 salesmen in succession, each one more high-pressure than the previous one. Response: "We can't give you our best price unless you are ready to buy now. We don't want you to shop our price at other dealers". I asked to see dealer invoice. Response: "No, we don't do that". After insisting on a price or I would leave, they finally gave me a price (without a signature) that was higher than any other dealer in the area.

I then made the fatal mistake of offering to trade-in my car, which has extremely low mileage and is in showroom condition and is in high demand. Their offer was $8,000 UNDER Kelley blue book trade-in value. The Kelley retail value (the price that the dealer would ask) was at least $16,000 higher than what I was being offered. I became frustrated and asked why so low? Response: "The blue book is only a guide. We don't always get full retail when we sell a used car. Besides, you have an emotional attachment to your car and think it's more than it's worth". After telling them I was not ready to buy yet, they told me I was being unfair and wasting their time. At that point, I walked out and was sorry I stayed 3 hours at the dealership.

My advice: This is a big dealership with a huge selection of cars. If you are looking for a fair price, especially for a trade-in, don't even think about going here, unless you enjoy having your wallet raided and being insulted in the process.

My Review of John L Sullivan Chevrolet:
The sales department stinks. The service dept. is very good.I've worked with Candy Nelson/service advisor for many years. The truck they sold me is a piece of garbage. It has been in the service dept. over 30 times in the last 3 years. Was in 2 times last month and now needs to go back in for the same problem. Why won't anyone take responsiblity for the vehicle they sold me? I paid over $39,000.00 for a used truck still owe $ 16,000 and it's not even worth$6,000 for blue book. I think I have been ripped off.
Thanks-Nacita Wise
