Very bad company. Poorly managed, work takes twice as long as it should and then they charge you for it. Tom is a horrible person to deal with, no people skills at all, he just wants your money,
Very knowlegeable and experienced staff and technicians servicing Corvettes. I would not take my Corvette anywhere else for routine maintenance, service or upgrades. They also saved the day when my wife's Honda battery died nearby. Very competetive prices and very fast service.
This place is no longer a Chevy dealer, but a performance sales facility. The vehicle I was looking at was slightly enhanced from its stock form - mainly cosmetic with alittle tweeked under the hood - really nice vehicle! My problem with this place is the double standard they use for pricing. When talking price of the sale vehicle, the salesman pushed that if you price this from kelly blue book (KBB) it would be at or under the price. However, when you go to get a trade price on your vehicle they give you a laughable offer with the rationale of you can't use KBB. You have to use an auction house and the price they give is it, period. When I told the salesman that he was not even close with the trade-in he said there was no room to move in price. This was not the first place I went to look for a different vehicle and got offered KBB price for my trade-in at each of them. Very unfortunate the people were not willing to work something out.
I had to have my car towed, and found this shop through AAA. They were great and were able to give me ride to my office. I got my car back to me quickly and I felt like it was a fair price. I would definitely recommend them. Thank you to everyone at Tom Oates.
I lucked out! I never realized what a resource these guys are. I've run my car at PDX events and Autocross, after having TO set it up. I don't trust my car to anyone else. Honest, knowledgeable, and courteous. What more could you ask for?
I've only had one really enjoyable experience buying a car in the nearly 40 years of experience doing so, and this was it. It was a 2002 Z-28 Camaro. Tom asked if there was a chance I might race the car (Tom is a two-time SCCA National Champion), and as I had not ruled that out, he talked me out of a lot of high-priced SS options that would have made the car ineligible to race in a competitive class. When I decided not to race the car, I worked with him to build the car of my dreams. We built it exactly like I wanted it, Tom guiding me as to what to do each step of the way. The result was the perfect car for me. And then I read that the Sports Car Club of America designed a competition class precisely for guys like me, who didn't have a lot of time to spend on normal competition. SCCA Club Racing has the Time Trials Class, including a Performance Driving Experience (PDX) and three levels of competitive driving. My car fits into one of those levels. A true "Build it, and they will come" situation. My thanks to Tom for keeping my desire to drive competitively inspired, and to Tim for his masterful job of providing a competitive car.
