Seller's Comments

This 1992 Dodge Daytona ES is finished in Radiant Fire with a grey cloth interior and a five-speed manual transmission, and it has a story behind it worth knowing. The car was stored for 15 years before being pulled out during the pandemic and given a full repaint in 2020, bringing it back to life in a color that turns heads and suits the wedge profile of the Daytona extremely well. Under the hood is the 3.0 liter V6, the same Mitsubishi 6G72 engine family used in the Eclipse and 3000GT, producing 141 horsepower and backing it up with 167 pound-feet of torque through the five-speed. It is a smooth, willing motor that suits the Daytona's front-wheel drive sports coupe character without asking too much of the drivetrain. The Dodge Daytona ran from 1984 through 1993 and was Chrysler's answer to the Japanese sport compact invasion of the 1980s. Dodge positioned it directly against the Celica, the 200SX, and even the Porsche 944 in some of their advertising, which was ambitious but not entirely wrong given the handling balance the platform delivered. 1992 brought the final facelift of the generation, switching from the pop-up headlights of earlier models back to fixed units in a cleaner, more modern design, and the last Daytona ever produced rolled off the line in February 1993. That makes a 1992 ES one of the final expressions of a car that closed out a decade of Mopar sports coupe history. The interior is clean and well equipped with power locks, power mirrors, cruise control, air conditioning and heat, and a Kenwood stereo. Crank windows are correct for the ES trim level and keep the cabin simple. The Radiant Fire paint from the 2020 repaint shows well and gives this car a presence on the street that a 30-year-old Daytona sitting on a shelf for 15 years had no business having. The Dodge Daytona is one of the more overlooked 1980s and early 1990s sports coupes in the collector market, and clean, well-presented examples that have been properly brought back are exactly what that market tends to reward when buyers pay attention.
