For a low entry cost you are getting one of the most proven engine and transmission combo's that Toyota has ever produced! Long before the tiny engines with turbo chargers that turn your exhaust into a cherry bombs and well before the unreliable CVT's entered the US Market. The US Government has something called CAFE Regulations: Corporate-Average-Fuel-Economy that was set in place in 1975 to raise the average fuel economy in passenger cars. While this may sound good in theory it also poses a threat to the reliability of the auto manufacturers chasing the technology.
