The 2014 Explorer XLT 4WD pairs a smooth 3.5L Ti-VCT V6 (290 hp and 255 lb-ft of torque) with a 6-speed SelectShift automatic and full-time four-wheel drive, delivering steady power for highway merging, light towing (up to 5,000 lbs when properly equipped), and confident traction in rain, snow, or light off-pavement conditions. EPA estimates run about 17 city / 23 highway mpg. Inside, it seats seven with a flexible three-row layout: comfortable front seats (power driver,s seat standard), a roomy second row, and a usable third row for kids or occasional adult passengers. Fold the rear seats and cargo space expands from 21 cu ft behind the third row to 43.8 cu ft behind the second and a maximum of 80.7 cu ft with everything flat.
