Ferrari painted this one twice before it ever left Maranello. Nothing about the rest of the order was cautious either.
Why We Acquired This Vehicle
Most 488 Spiders were ordered well. A smaller number were ordered by somebody who treated the option list as a design brief rather than a menu. This is one of those, and we know it precisely rather than approximately, because the car arrived with its original Monroney label.
That document shows it left Maranello at a total of $348,103 against a $272,700 port-of-entry price - more than seventy-five thousand dollars of specification on a car that needed none of it to be extraordinary. The money went into the paintwork, into carbon fiber inside and out, and into the exhaust system. Every one of those choices is verified below rather than assumed.
It is finished in Bianco Avus over Nero. White is the hardest color to specify well on a mid-engine car, because it flattens surfaces that darker paint would sculpt - which is exactly why the carbon and the darker second color matter so much here. At 16,834 miles it has been used as intended and looked after while being used.
