The Evoque's charm lies in its eye-catching design, tailored cabin, and luxury-brand cachet. Plus, its tall seating position gives it a more SUV-like feel than some lower-riding rivals. As the move away from sedans continues, the luxury market is experiencing a similar shift toward subcompact SUVs. Land Rover made its mark in this class when it introduced the Evoque back in 2012. The current Evoque represents the second generation that was redesigned in 2020. As is the case with its predecessor, the 2023 Land Rover Evoque stands out from the competition with off-road capabilities that would strand rivals. For 2023, the Land Rover Range Rover Evoque offers subtle yet obvious fine taste, and fine handling, too. Quieter, quicker, and more composed, the 2023 Range Rover Evoque improves in all performance vectors. Most Evoques come with a 246-hp turbo-4 engine with 269 lb-ft of torque that provides eager punch from stoplights and is capable of hitting 60 mph in 7.0 seconds; Land Rover says the top speed is 143 mph. Its quiet and the 9-speed automatic shifts smoothly and with confidence. On pavement, there's plenty of grip; on various terrain, selectable traction modes ensure capability. It cant keep up with its bigger and more capable siblings on hardcore off-road trips, but it can ford water almost two feet deep and handle steep inclines thanks to its electronic hill descent control. The Evoque accommodates four adults and their cargo comfortably. The Evoque earns our respect for its peppy turbo-4 combined with dartlike handling. The all-wheel-drive system also comes into play in urban shuttle duty.
