Following its redesign last year, the Q5 wears debonair sheetmetal and a Bauhaus interior replete with the most advanced tech that Ingolstadt has to offer. Its three-screen digital command center is an impressive setup. The Q5 only comes one way: with a 268-hp turbocharged four-cylinder and all-wheel drive. That's a slight power increase over the previous generation and enough to make the Q5 quicker than an equivalent BMW X3. A 268-hp turbo four, all-wheel drive, and a seven-speed automatic are standard. In our drive of the new Q5, we found it to deliver a sufficient amount of smooth and refined power. The seven-speed dual-clutch automatic delivers quick and nearly imperceptible shifts and smooth operation at low city speeds. The Q5s suspension is well-sorted and delivers a smooth and stable ride over a variety of surfaces. An 11.9-inch digital gauge cluster flows into a larger 14.5-inch touchscreen infotainment display. If that isnt enough, an additional 10.9-inch passenger display can be ordered. It features a privacy screen so the driver cant be distracted while the front-seat passengers browse the web. The second row provides ample headroom and decent legroom and comes with a reclining option, unlike a BMW X3. Getting in and out is straightforward thanks to wide door openings. The climate system itself is nice and powerful, and the available ventilated seats in particular work great. Got small children? Installing a car seat is a simple process with easy-to-find LATCH anchors. The Q5 offers a good blend of sport and comfort with its driving experience. The Q5 is easy to see out of, and the available surround-view camera system gives you a nice view of what's around you. The driver aids work well.
