Make sure you have absolutely everything you need before leaving the dealership because once they have your money, you are dead to them. We are going on 5 weeks since we purchased our car and we still have leaving the dealership because once they have your money, you are dead to them. We are going on 5 weeks since we purchased our car and we still have no license plates. Our temporary ones have expired so essentially, we cant drive the car we just bought. We have called many times and get passed around and told "i cant help you, that's not my department" or "we will call you back in 15 minutes with an update"... spoiler alert, no call back. We were finally told today by our sales person (first we have heard anything from him after numerous times trying to reach him over the last few weeks) that the DMV is very backed up due to the volume of people buying cars. If this was the case, wouldnt you have made our temp plates last for a longer period of time? Someone dropped the ball and never submitted our paperwork. Regardless of what the issue is, the lack of responsibility they have taken to even provide an update has been absurd. I would proceed with caution here. Update: we were issued a new set of temporary plates while they worked to resolve the issue. Turns out the issue wasn’t with the DMV at all but rather that they didn’t hold the title of the car yet so were unable to apply for the actual license plates. We did finally receive our plates and do appreciate that they made this a priority once we were able to speak with someone to help. The frustration still lies with the lack of transparency and difficulty getting anyone to get back to us in the beginning. More
