Bad service from Nissan of Newnan My advisor was great but service all around was disappointing! In 2017, I bought my 04 nissan maxima to Nissan Of Newnan to have a diagnostic test ran My advisor was great but service all around was disappointing! In 2017, I bought my 04 nissan maxima to Nissan Of Newnan to have a diagnostic test ran because of performance issues with power. When I bought it a few days earlier, it would not accelerate as it should have and would decelerate on the expressway as I went up hills, I couldn't go over 55. After review from former technician employee #981, I was informed that I needed both catalytic converters replaced as they were the reason for my power loss. After replacing one of the cats, the car ran 50% better but due to financial issues I was not able to replace the second. I had the car towed (couldn't drive it without a clutch) in March of 2018 to Nissan Of Newnan to get serviced by my tech #981 only to be informed that he was no longer with the company. I was paired with tech "Master Tech" Dustin Thompson and advisor Brad Hayworth for a replacement of a clutch as well as the other catalytic converter. After the initial diagnostic test, I was "STRONGLY recommeded" by service advisor Brad Hayworth as well as tech Dustin Thompson that BOTH cats were fine and needed not to be replaced. I'm familiar with cars and knew a bad cat doesn't become a good one so after discussing a little more in depth over the phone about the issue, I was persuaded that the clutch would restore power so I opted to have the additional recommended work my advisor and tech said needed to be done to my car with the money that was for the last catalytic converter. After I recieved the car back, it ran the same way performance wise as when I brought it in. It still decelerated going up hills and had no go power when in any of the 6 gears. I took it back and tried to show the manager of the service department my 2017 invoice about the bad cat addressed from tech #981 but he would not look at it. I was given a free diagnostic check in which the tech Dustin Thompson told me when I took him on a drive that, " with 87,000 miles in the motor your car won't reach 100 that fast." I didn't agree and neither did my father after taking a ride with me. We came back to the dealership. The advisor also relayed that my car was one of the best running out of all he had seen which I could not believe. Being a 6 cylinder I should be able to accelerate with ease. I own a 93 Honda accord with over 400,000 miles on it and it could beat my Maxima so I knew something wasn't right and persisted on having it solved. While waiting in the service department, I found 2 YouTube videos of the same car, 04 nissan maxima 6 speed manual, having the same issues of a clogged converter. Our cars sounded exactly alike and ran identical to each other. There were no add-ons with the vehicle in the video and neither are there any on mine. Upon showing the service advisor the video, the tech Dustin Thompson, FINALLY ran a computerized view on my cats only to confirm that the cat I wanted to replace and indicated that it should be from the service prior was indeed bad and would need replacing eventually. This already knew that. Instead of offering to help with the cost since I no longer had the funds resolve the issues but did initially, they told me it would be $1,100 to replace the other cat which is total bs to me. The clutch and all related components totaled $2,425.54. The remaining amount was recommended work. I feel as if the "Master Tech" Dustin Thompson was not as knowledgeable of his craft even with physical evidence pointing to the issue at hand and that the Nissan Of Newnan failed to deliver quality service. Had the computerized view of the catalytic converters been ran BEFORE I would not be having the same issues i requested to be fixed in the initial visit and something should be done about it. More
