We went to Auto Club of Edison to purchase a vehicle advertised at $62,888. We told the salesperson we’d be back in a couple of days to finalize. When we returned to discuss financing and shipping th advertised at $62,888. We told the salesperson we’d be back in a couple of days to finalize. When we returned to discuss financing and shipping the car to our state, he suddenly said, “oh, and one more thing—there’s a $3,500 fee.” He claimed it was for “polishing, waxing, sanding, wheel alignment, and oil changes” to prepare the car. This was not for tax, title, doc fees, or any standard charge. Their website states the price does not include tax, title, or doc fees, but nowhere does it mention a $3,500 dealership fee. Nothing online, nothing in person until the last moment. Very deceptive. With this added fee, the $62,888 price became over $66,383, which brings us over $70k after taxes and other fees. When we objected, we discussed it for around 10 minutes before he offered $500 off. That still left an unjustified difference, and we walked away. We’ve been to many other dealerships, and while small fees are common, the highest we’ve seen is a $1,000 polishing fee, which other dealers told us they’re willing to waive or reduce. To make matters worse, when we called the next day, the manager we spoke with was dismissive and rude. He asked if what we said was in writing. When we said no, he replied, “so all of this is just hearsay.” Later he called back saying, “are you sure we told you $3,500? Maybe that was another dealership.” He treated us like children and refused to take responsibility. We were excited all weekend about buying this car—it’s a big deal—and they rely on that excitement so customers feel pressured to give in when they spring hidden charges. That is exactly what they tried to do to us. This is a bait-and-switch operation: they lure you in with an attractive price, then surprise you with undisclosed fees once you’re ready to buy. Under the New Jersey Consumer Fraud Act, concealing or omitting material facts until the moment before sale is deceptive. I would stay away from this dealership. Their practices were deceptive, unprofessional, and insulting to me. I strongly advise everyone to take detailed notes during your conversations with them. More

I’ve been ripped off by dealerships before, but Auto Club of Edison is something else… I’ve never had the final price of a car be $6k more than the asking price. Agreed on the advertised price as an appropriate competitive price. Filled out finance paperwork and suddenly presented with a $2,500 fee they said was the charge for all the pre-sale work they had done to the car. Tried to explain to me how it is normal to advertise one price and charge another and offered to “help me out”. Brought a new finance estimate and threw a lot of numbers around - all to keep me from noticing that they had removed the fee line but *raised the purchase price line by $2,000*. This dealer depends on customers not paying attention to details and not being able to do the math. If you see a car advertised online, assume there will be a massive markup when you show up in person. If you choose to go here anyway - read every single line carefully. More

The price listed was good, but they kept adding all kinds of fees and extras, and the price increased a lot. Also, the tires were very close to replacement with only a little over 9,000 miles on the car. Wh of fees and extras, and the price increased a lot. I found this dealership on cars. com after researching the car I was looking for. They stock selective very nice pre owned vehicles. I called and talked with Stephanie about the Corve com after researching the car I was looking for. They stock selective very nice pre owned vehicles. I called and talked with Stephanie about the Corvette I was interested in purchasing. I told her I was from Nashville TN 13 hours away and needed some information about the car before I made the trip. Stephanie said she would get back with me on the information but from then on she would not answer or return my calls. After 3 days of trying she finally at the end of day Friday responded back to me. So I packed a bag and headed that way and got to the dealership Saturday afternoon to purchase my first Corvette. Very nice and clean dealership. Ashley was my sales lady and I must say I was impressed with her professionalism and knowledge. I give the dealership 5 stars but lack of communication with Stephanie was very frustrating. More
