Took care of one problem but forgot to do a brake job. Saved $$ but lost time. They recommended the brake job as being urgent. Kept car overnight and when I picked up the next afternoon I couldn’t get the courtesy of asking service advisor about it. He kept ignoring me. Disappointed but probably saved money having brakes done elsewhere. More

Brought in about 2,000 miles early because of a belt tensioner pulley failure which sounded like a cat fight from under the hood. So what would have been about a $600 service ended up over $1,000. Compared to other vehicles I have owned (excluding Porsche) Subaru service is expensive. In a comment about the cost made by the dealer to an earlier rendition of this request for review he noted our high mileage on the car apparently indicating it was going to get more expensive as the mileage increases. We make every effort to have our car serviced when it is required. All service has been done at this dealership. We never experienced such a situation with our 2 Ford Explorers ( including 1 used off-road many times), 1 Toyota Corolla, 1 Toyota Previa and 1 Honda Civic all of which had over 100,000 and up to 150,000 + miles of use with no issues. None! So sorry Subaru dealer, I don’t buy that unless you are stating Subaru is inferior to the others. A major complaint I have about Subaru (not so much dealer related) is the lack of or difficulty of DIY capabilities such as replacing light bulbs. I should not need to have an expensive Subaru technician change out a light bulb. In particular I speak of the poorly designed, horrible access requirement to change a low beam headlight bulb ( both should be replaced when one fails). Let the designer change those in his/her driveway and see how it is. Our 2012 Outback in Silver color also has degrading clear coat finish on the tailgate, despite being garaged or covered with a Subaru purchased car cover. Only the tail gate, no were else. Again a Subaru problem, not a dealer problem. The navigation system will win no accolades with me having mislead us in the past. And no navigation disc upgrade notifications at all since we purchased the vehicle new. Another Manufacturer issue no doubt. The other major complaint I have is the lack of a local Subaru dealership in inland North San Diego County. Living in South Escondido our closest dealerships are, Carlsbad, Kearny Mesa, El Cajon, National City and Temecula. Sorry but none of those are convenient. I even had an independent service center make the same comment about a lack of a local dealership when the car was recently smog he’d for tag renewal. Go figure. A competitor said that. My wife really loves the car for the way it drives. We both love the safety aspect especially in wet weather. I Iike the 3.6 liter flat six which gets really good mileage on long trips and has good power when needed. Regrettably I understand the 3.6 has been discontinued. So we are going to have to rethink our continuing a relationship in the future with Subaru especially as relates to convenience. More
Brought my car in for routine service that also included recall update on the car. They handled tire rotation, oil change but unfortunately due to the Covid 19, no car wash. Good sales experience, absolutely great service department with knowledgeable and pleasant technicians. I would recommend buying a car here. To name a specific name, Tanner Knapp in service departm department with knowledgeable and pleasant technicians. I would recommend buying a car here. To name a specific name, Tanner Knapp in service department really knows everything about the vehicles he's working on. Downside: every time you do anything with them, you'll get swamped with surveys. After a service, for example, you get an email asking to fill a "how did we do" survey. A few hours later, you'll get texts. Then more emails, then robocalls. It's a bit funny that their efforts to confirm their customers have had a good experience are actually the main thing detracting from the experience. More
